I am wit you, JM! Like I said, not tried it myself, only heard it can be done that way. I have a glass guy that treats me pretty well so I throw as much business his way as I can. Besides, I love the sound of breaking glass!

Sorry about your car. Windshield urethane is what you would use for the glass. I have replaced my fair share of them. And hope the cops catch them but doubt it will happen. |

So here's an update. Got the windshield (new) for $95. Like you guys, I had never done a windshield before and never will again unless I have to. I had to because of the way the roff was caved in. It was a pain in the butt getting the old one off. I don't think the piano string idea would've worked on this car. It was glued on good. Ended up using a 5and1 blade and a hammer and just beat all the way around it then had to get a utility knife and scrape off the rest of the glue. Then peeled the headliner back to see how to "uncave" the roof. Ended up reclining seat all the way back and using my feet to bend it up the meet the new windshield. It worked really well. Still need to do some bondo work when I get aorund to it, but its all sealed up and passed the waterhose leak test. Also got two fenders from picknpull. They were in great shape, not a dent one and no rust. Put those on, and sanded and primed them. The car is actually white primer, it used to be red and I replaced most of the body parts on it because of minor fender benders, so I decided to paint it white. Everthing on the inside is white, only thing I didn't get was under the hood Eventually, I'll put a coat of gloss white on it, but may not because there's still alot of little imperfections that would show up with a gloss coat, and I'm not much of bodywork guy. Waiting on a mirror i ordered off ebay. Other than that, it's pretty much back to normal. Johnny Mullet, i'm going to look into your mercury switch idea. Sounds like a good way to protect against another flip. Anyways, happy new year to all.![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Sorry to hear about what happened to your car. Here in Canada we can't get sued like you Americans, so the razor blade thing could work Too bad the cops did not catch the bastards Most car alarms can have a mercury switch installed, look in to one, off of the shelf the are not to expensive, just installation costs a bit, but if you are technically minded and REAL good with wires you could do it your self. Just remember that most don't come with instructions So you had better be good at understanding schematics. If you get a good alarm it will have a remote start too! They are really cool, and your friends will be shocked when your car starts by it self warms up and waits for you. Personally I would not be able to live with out my command start here in the Canadian North. You did an awesome job fixing your car up

The car looks really nice, match the paint and it would be hard to notice! Way to keep a positive attitude! |

If someone rolled my Metro, I would probably try and fix it. If not fixable due to "A" pillar damage or something, then I would drop the body on a 4X4 chassis like gmshades did on this thread....... http://geometroforum.com/topic/1647686/ |
