I got a PM over at Teamswift from a guy who said he lived in my area and he had problems with a wheel bearing. I posted a reply and the next day he told me that when he jacked the car up the frame broke away from the body I told him that it could be fixed and he said he was scrapping it, so I asked about parts or the whole car. Well, he apparently got mad at the car and took out his frustrations on it with a hammer I went down to see what's up and found the car totaled............... ![]() ![]() Every body panel on it was damaged including the headlamps...... ![]() I was able to get the Chevy hubcaps, emblems, and a mirror from the car anyway. There was probably a lot more I could have gotten, but it was cold and I had groceries in the car. I understand the guy was mad because he got ripped off when he bought this car from an auction during the recent fuel crisis and was not informed of the unsafe condition of the frame. If the car was not beat up like that, I would have gotten the car complete and fixed it. It was a 2000 Metro LSi Sedan with the 1.3L auto. (R.I.P.) |

sad, but also kinda funny. I generally throw stuff instead of hitting stuff. Seems like the dude would have cooled down after the 5th or 10th strike but looks like he spent a half hour or so beating that car. |

Damn I never have been one to tear up stuff just because I was mad. Guess because I am the dummy that has to fix it lol One time I used to have a 39 chevy coupe. It was already set up with a 327 when I got it. Well we worked and worked on it Set the engine back, tires, headers etc. Backed it out in front of the house for a test run. 6000 plus, drop the zoom clutch and ........................ damn the front goes straight up in the air and comes down even faster Smashed the oil pan, broke the trans, bent the new straight axle all to hell and more. 4000 plus dollars, 6 weeks of work, distance traveled? 5ft!!! LOL

Well, I got the wheel covers all cleaned up (don't tell the wife I used the kitchen sink and dish strainer)...........![]() The one cover looks great, but the rest are turning that nasty green color from age/wear, so I decided to simply paint them silver (Kentucky Chrome) for now............. ![]() Later, we will see how they look on the car since my old hubcaps have all broken and cracked from removing and installing them. |

Mullet, Do you have the right-hand mirror? If so, is it black or gray? |

I only got the driver side mirror since the other was broken. The new mirror has an inside adjuster control

Shit, that's another part I need now. I clipped a car last night and the right-hand mirror got clipped off clean.

I have an idea regarding the side mirror. You looked up the Metro (the white hatch) and posted it in a recent comment. On that base Metro, there is simply a black cover in place of the mirror. Where can I get one of those covers? I know a lot of older base models have those in place of a mirror. I don't use the right-hand mirror anyway. |

Ryan, sounds like you might be talking about my car: My car came with a passenger side mirror that was barely hanging on when i got it... so i just took it off, filled the hole up with bondo & silicone, & cut a mud flap to cover up the outside. it's held on with sumo glue & i put some black silicone around the seams to seal it. doesn't look fantastic but i'm happy with it. then i got one of these mirrors from advance auto. i love it! i can see everything around me. don't miss the passenger mirror at all now. hope that helps. Thanks for the advice. Not sure how adept I am with bondo and silicone, but its a possibility. However, replacing the side view mirrors in these cars is a snap. On eBay they are roughly $50, but I will check some junkyards as well. |
