A U-Pull junkyard near me is having a $50 day in April - basically, $50 gets you in and you carry out as much as you like. Unfortunately, the yard only has a few Metros and I'm not sure whats left on those. I still may go - and wear a BIG COAT with lots of pockets :)

Anybody use a U-Pull yard and what have been your experience with them?

cheers,

A friend of mine from High School owns one. I get great discounts! Unfortunately he rarely has Metros but I get as good a discount as possible on parts he can find from other yards on the online lookup system.

Pick-N-Pull is only 2 miles from my house.
I go there regularly.
Going today as soon as they open up.
I need a starter for one of my neighbors cars.
I always go through and look for Geos or Swifts when I am there.
And yes the are rare.

When I lived in AL I regularly went to u-pullits & the like. There they are generally massive, but since I've lived here I've only been to a couple & have been disappointed. Yes, I have only seen 2 metros in this area.

Victory is mine!!!!

We have a couple in Memphis that advertise on TV and radio. They even have billboards. They are also picked over and have very little in them. I prefer the smaller country junkyards. If you can find a Metro they are usually more complete with more usable parts.

We have one called pick a part. Just went there tis morning to get a decklid for a 99 Saturn. Froze my butt off with the wind blowing. In the last 2 weeks they've gotten in 3 Metro 2 doors. One 93 & two 94's. One of them only had 66K miles, looked like new. All 3 TOTALLY RUST FREE!!! HEH HEH. Snagged a new looking starter, $20, every underhood sensor I could, a bfn looking throttle body, tire jack, etc. About $40 for that stuff. Went back a couple days later & got a complete engine with alternator, ac compressor, & throttle body for $200. Gonna rebuild it with the XFI cam grind & drop it in when the weather starts staying warm. Hey METROSCHULTZ, do you go to the one on Sykes Ave? Used to drop in there sometimes when I was in Va Beach working .

Just north of F'Burg in Stafford county, next to Quanico Marine base area. Called Pick a Part. 540-657-7425. They had 2 hatchbacks yesterday with perfect bodies. One had the driver's door missing.

I used to get drunk in Stafford with a guy named Mike English.
He had a really nice El-Camino that we rebuilt the carb on then did some other minor stuff it needed.
That would really be a weekend drive for us.
Lets see what mine has this morning when I get there.

There is one here in columbus God-forgotten ohio, and they have 4 or 5. I was having trouble with one of my headlights and couldnt get a socket new. My son and I went and it cost us each $1 to get inside, but they didn't charge us anything for the little odds and ends we took. As soon as it's bearable outside we're going back for body parts and will let ya'll know.
