I was involved in an accident with my Metro on Saturday and now my front drivers side is shifted a bit to the right and there is pressure on the gear shift so it's not drivable. Does anyone know if the subframe is bolted or welded on a 94 Metro?
Thanks!

There is no actual subframe or K-frame under these cars. The control arms mount (bolt) right to the chassis. If you bent a control arm or something, you should be OK.

What about the cross member? Near where the radiator is mounted. Is that also just bolted?

No, that is part of the chassis and welded. Got any pics of the damage you can post?

Its too dark to take any useful pictures at the moment, but I'll post some in the morning.

Though my friend says that if its welded (which it apparently is), that I'm pretty much S.O.L.

Unless you know a welder. metroshultz is an active member here who resides in Va Beach. Maybe he could take a look at it sometime?

Here's a wide shot of the offending bend.

And here's a closer look at the main problem.

The bend has pushed back the radiator, and now its crowding that part where the gears are changed, resulting in the car not being able to shift into all gears. For instance, it can't go into reverse.

Find a tree and a chain. Hook the chain around the tree and hook it to the damaged area. Put it in reverse and gently pull it out. It will work! I have fixed worse before.

There's the front end. I can take more if these shots aren't good enough.

I'll definitely keep the tree idea in mind.

yikes. first start by removing the front bumper cover and bumper brace, left fender, drain and remove rad+fan, remove headlight.

after this take pics of the body front end damage and we'll go from there.

Send a PM or email :type and we can get together for a Geo fix-fest. :rocker
We can got to Pick-N-Pull to get parts you need after we assess the damage.
If necessary we can cut good pieces from a Geo there and I can weld them in here.
I know they have a fender. (may need paint) Your hood looks O.K.
I have an extra head light and bezel in the garage. I don't have a turn signal.
The bumper cover looks salvageable.
There is probably a little more damage in the lower cross member than the upper.
I also have a friend who owns a body shop. He may let me use the frame machine to pull it straight. (or charge a tiny fee to do it for me, insurance :deal don'tcha know)
