Speaking of "Santa Sam" the reindeer and sleigh have left their tracks on our roof early. A full set of (4) 13" rims and some few other small parts arrived here from Sam on Friday. They were very well-packed and arrived in great condition. I cleaned and painted the rims, then had a set of new Firestone Winterforce snow tires installed at Walmart this morning. So this winter, both our Metros will have snow tires. I will probably wait a couple more weeks before putting them on. |

Sam, I would like to buy (2) of those speedometer gears for 13" wheels. The ones I have now have a white-colored gear with 17 teeth. I think I need a gear with 16 teeth. If you have one or two of these gears assemblies, let me know how much you want for them. Thanks, Fred |

Sam I may be in the need for a auto tranny for my 90 metro. Do you have one and how much to ship to 86556 (home) or 87401 (freight terminal) My trany is non responsive in any gear. PO said she was driving it and it did not make any noises or any thing just acted like it slipped and engine sped up. Any thoughts |

Thankyou Sam! I am a female metro owner who bought a metro last year that had the passenger mirror ripped off. As the Alaskan winter set in, I had a GREAT need for the passenger mirror as the inside of the 94 metro started accumulating frost and even ice buildup. The rear window was the worst. In local city traffic I was driving blind at times and it was not safe. No, there is no rear window defroster.I stopped at a local car parts store and was told a special order replacement part would take time and run me $100. Another option was to go to a used parts place, but they didn't have one. I heard there was a junkyard an hour away, but I didn't know where it was and had never been to a junkyard, and they might not have the part. Meanwhile, I stumbled across this website via Google Images. I was looking up a picture of a metro and saw one with a sticker in the rear window of 'geometroforum.com'. I went to the website, but had no idea how to start a new topic, but saw the chat option, and though I'd never done web chatting before, I got into the chat room and learned how to chat and someone named Johnny Mullet told me to PM (what's PM?) someone named Sam. That took more instructions. Sam was kind enough to resort to emailing me back and forth on my regular email address, and within a week we had sorted out the price ($35 including shipping), handle a pay pal form, and the mirror was on my doorstep. Having the replacement parts in hand helped me 'see' how to remove the remaining parts of the old mirror from my metro. I got them off, but the new replacement mirror didn't fit. The metal was bent. I straightened it out, but the mirror still didn't fit. I contacted Sam and even spoke to him on the phone. It was the right part. I needed daylight to see what was going on. (this is Alaska). During lunchhour I was able to see that the whole metal backing was straight, but dislodged much further out than I'd realized. Being the dead of winter, I didn't want to crack any metal and had to carefully worked the metal back into its proper place. The mirror finally fit. I've left the inside backing off the mirror until spring in case I need to make any more changes or I want to put in the longer screws that are suggested. Thankyou Sam for your time and patience. I would have written a thankyou sooner, but only just saw this thread today. Regards, Jittey |
