Short of driving cross country for geo palooza, I tried to arrange having coffee with jj53913 who lives just 2 hours away. :coffee He must be to busy to be on line but we still wanted to get out of town. I sent a PM indicating where we might be and that I wouldn't be offended if a crazed Geo Metro was tailgating me and waving franticly as I drove thru town. My Geo's easy to spot being red with the roof scoop.

We arrived on time, grabbed some Latte's, waited 45 minutes, took Gracie out for a small walk for doggie dooty. Just about to leave, door open and a small white Metro rounds the corner, u-turns, parks in front of us. A gentleman and his son exit and I walk up and say hello. He says "I'm Joe." I'm thinking jj=Joe, NOT! :ermm:
He looks confused so we explain and chuckle about it, Geo chat a little. I tell him about GeoMetroForum and let him go to get his coffee. We drive off. Will meet jj53913 next time.

What are the odds? :smackface

Victory is mine!!!!

That's a cool story. It would be really neat if he logs on and becomes a member. It makes me wish that all the Geos in my town were not parked in my driveway.

There are a few guys in my town that drive Metros. When I bought my 1990 hatchback my co-worker got jealous and wanted one. I found one for $350 at a garage sale....a 1993 Hatchback 5 sp 3 cyl. It needed exhaust and valve work but runs like a top now. And the body has no rust. A local firefighter drives a 1994. He's rewelded the frame twice now I think. He said he's going to drive it until it falls apart, but that's a fireman's mentality for you. I drove through a McDonald's drivethru last year and I kid you not....a 1994 Green Hatchback and 1992 Blue Hatchback had me sandwiched in the line! How weird is that? 3 Metros in a row at McDonald's.

I have a weird hobby....when I see a Metro driving down the road or parked somewhere I take a picture. When I get home I make a mental note as to where I saw the car and it's general condition. That way I sort of have a geographical sense of who needs what before we need it, or who might be selling theirs in the future.

Here's a picture of one when I was driving through Lancaster, Ohio last week. I put a business card on his window that said if he ever wanted to sell it to give me a call. As I was driving away from that car I saw another guy driving a 1994 4-door hatchback and stopped and chatted with him for awhile. He was going to sell his car for $250 to his brother. Pretty good deal I say!

I see very few Metro models around here, but surprisingly, there is an older mint green Suzuki Swift that's local. Anytime I spot a Metro in a parking lot, I am determined to park next to them so they see the stickers on my car.

Sorry about not showing I've been pretty busy and haven't been on the forum to even get the pm. Now I feel a little like an ass. Anyway that would be cool if the other guy here in Ontario got online. And bad bent when you get back from vaction well get together for coffee and I'll buy.

Geo Metros are like the Amish.....you either see them all over the place or not at all. It's funny how it can be a regional thing. I drove to Continental, Ohio on Sunday to get parts off a guy for my vert, and he had a rusty frame 1991 hatchback in his yard and a non-running 1991 vert behind the barn. On the way back I saw a few parked in people's yards....one looked like a green XFI. Most of them were of the 89-94 variety.

This Saturday is going to be beautiful weather in the Columbus, OH area. If anybody wants to get together for a cruise or just to hangout let me know. I'll probably be taking out the vert to a long spin.

what we need to do is make some busness cards for the site... sell them like the stickers and when we "stop and chat about metros" to other people give them the card and write down your handle on here that way they can look you up on here and kinda give them the extra little push to join.
