Fuel Economy guage???

ok so when i was working for the uhaul place we got some new trucks in with theise weird looking guages that where labled Fuel Economy Guages and had a range of "Best MPG" and a Red zone of mpg
and im wondering if its just a vacum guage thats been refaced or what??? but id like to put one in the metro since its an obd 1 and i cant put an Ecometer in it... heres a vid of one of the ones in a U-haul truck. CLICK HERE

Also this looks like a fun guage to put in your metro if you have an OBD-2 computer (post 96) Its called the Auto Meter Ecometer

That's exactly what it is. Some cars were built with them during the fuel crisis about 25 years ago. You can occasionally find them on Ebay with the red and green still on them. You could also just use a regular vacuum gauge. Here is where you can see one installed...

Both of the installs on that that thread are for OBD2 cars, but with a vac gauge it dies not matter

Older Ford pickups also has a factory vacuum gauge option.
