I'm almost finished putting the engine back together but something is really puzzling me. I had to adjust my accelerator cable all the way "tight" and it still has a little slack. At first glance it seems as though my cable grew by 1/2" but I know I must be missing something. Any ideas?

After the cable end is put back in its slot the cable needs to be routed over the top of the excentric pulley. Did you do this or just run it straight to the adjuster nut? |

Perhaps the cable pulled free at the pedal end? Check to make sure. Ask me how I know

Nope, cable has not pulled free (or at least the pedal works) and the cable does appear to be routed correctly. I am not really sure what is going on. Very strange... I'd post a picture of the adjustment threads (where you could see they are not where they were for the past 150K miles) but I am too lazy to upload it to my server <G>. The good news is that I just got my car running (rebuilt engine). It is still a POS but at least it runs better on 3 cylinders than 1... |
