Hello all, I was considering doing a XFI conversion to my 92 automatic Metro. I've found a XFI transmission with 86,xxx miles for $150 and I know there's many other things I need. Could any of you chime in with what else is need from the obvious parts down to the little ones. I've searched and couldn't find anything on the conversion. Maybe I didn't search hard enough, so if you know of a link that details it I'd appreciate it. Thanks in advance. |

The xfi was more involved than just the transmission, as you know. The computer is different along with the camshaft and pistons. I also seem to recall that the crankshaft may be different in some way, too. Another thing will be the wire harness, as your car has an automatic transmission. Then there are the transmission mounts, clutch pedal set up, shifter, shift rods, etc. If you don't have a complete donor car of the same year as yours, your project may nickle and dime you to death hunting for the various bits and pieces. |

Well, I know about the piston rings, but I'm only going to replace the cam and sprocket as far as the engine is concerned. I guess I was wondering if all I would need would be the transmission, computer, and shifting assembly. Would I need a different wiring harness? Anyone else want to comment? |

All you really need is an XFi cam and trans to get a good mileage combo. To make it all Xfi, you need the PCM, wiring, pistons, and cam. |
