The date is official for the 2nd Annual Great Lakes GeoPalooza - Saturday July 25th 2009

Geo Metro owners and all other "Econobox" owners are encouraged to join us. Members from Ecomodder.com and other sites will also be invited to this gather on beautiful Lake Erie. Last year was a great success at Pymatuning Lake in NE Ohio.........

I already rented the Pavilion and will be supplying some food and refreshments. Other joining are encouraged to bring food, drinks, chips, etc to ensure everyone has a great time. There are so many thing you and the family can do in this area, so if you want to make a vacation out of this, you will not be disappointed.

Make your Hotel or Camping reservations early since Summertime is a busy time of year on Lake Erie and those of you traveling long distances should take note of other members profiles and locations and message each other if you want to pair up on the journey. It's not official, but I may also open up my property for a bonfire if some of you need something to do the night before or after the meet.

Some members will be staying at Geneva State Park and several members have already reserved spots#25 - #29 there. Here is a link............

Lake Village campground always has camping spots available (no reservations available) and it's close to the Drive-In...........

Evergreen Lake park has camping for $19.00 per night......

Hotels/Motels are also nearby if you are not a camper.......

Bring your spare Metro/Swift parts for the gather for a mini swap meet.

Feel free to add any other ideas for the gather. I am also trying to get a bunch of GeoMetroForum stickers together also, but did not intend to go all out on this, so we will see.

See you in July :)

I want to go soooooo bad but i don't think i will be able to make it.

1. I just drove a 6 hour trip one way, and that sucked, plus i had cruise. In the Metro i think it would be hell.
2. I honestly am not sure if the car would make it.

Please make sure you take LOTS of pics this time. Like, one of each cars engine, interior, exterior, etc...

Please just call me; "Schultz"

I'm in.
Got two weeks off for that weekend in the middle.
Gotta have A/C for the woman so I'll mod the he!! out of her car with Gorilla tape and coroplast before we leave. (unless I put the A/C in the Geo for the meet and remove when I get home.)

From the local paper....................

Quote:

ASHTABULA TOWNSHIP — A little before 8 a.m. Monday, Michael Wayman opened the doors to the Ashtabula Township Park Commission Office.

Along with the cold morning air came a line of people anxiously waiting to book their family reunions, birthday parties, church picnics, wedding receptions and graduation open houses. Of the more than 60 or so reservations taken Monday, more than 40 were made in person, and 20 were made over the telephone.

“One lady arrived at the park around 5 a.m.,” Wayman said. “She wanted to be assured she got the date and pavilion she wanted for her family event.”

Walk-in and telephone reservations continued Tuesday at the park office on First Street, said fiscal officer Lori Zebrasky.

“People are saying: ‘What do you mean you’re booked? You just started yesterday?’” she said.

Reservations are being accepted for dates from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day weekend.

Good thing I got this early enough :)

I would really love to go to GeoPalooza but I have a final on the 27th...I guess I'll just have to keep up with the coursework so I won't need to cram!

You could always bring the Z :thumb

It's not just about the cars, but getting to meet up is what's important :cheers

I will be heading from WV to the meet. I will prob go a day or so early and get set up at a campground if I can find a good park beside the lake. I will be hauling my Metro on the back of my van since it is really not much fun to drive long distances in a rough riding and cramped up little car. Plus that means I can bring a massive amount of parts with me to get rid of.

Anyone made reservations at a camp ground yet?

Wow! We are going to see the infamous Metro XFi Convertible in person :drool

I will do a search for campgrounds near the meet, but it would make more sense to stay at the Pymatuning campground like last year if you guys are going to the Drive-In. This will be nice because the second movie ends around 1:00 AM and Pymatuning campground is close by.........
http://www.dnr.state.oh.us/tabid/781/default.aspx

I will update the first post with links to camps and hotels.
