Here are some pictures from the 2nd annual Geopalooza today (if I actually got them uploaded to Picasa). What a great event! Johnny, his wife and who knows how many others put on a great picnic and a very well organized event. Over 16 cars and probably 50-60 people, and "a fine time was had by all" :thumb

For some pics, Please go to: http://picasaweb.google.com/WobblybobH/Geopalooza09?feat=directlink

(I hope the link works)

Thanks Johnny.

Here are some photos Johnny took with his crappy camera, but don't worry, there are more photos to follow.............

Pres,

Johnny and others have a lot more pictures and at least some of them have the "bonnets" open, I'm sure.

The only reason I posted pictures before anyone else is that I live just 40 miles away and was able to beat everyone back to their computer!

Thanks to Wobblybob for the early pics. It was great to meet you and all the other participants for the day.

I for one want to take a moment to say a big THANK YOU to JM for putting this event on. While the forum is a great resource for getting help for our cars, actually being able to see and put hands on to some the things being done with them is invaluable. I was able to to get a good look at how to tee into which vacuum line for a vacuum gauge and also a nice setup for a crankcase catchcan that replaces the PCV system. For anyone who was on the fence about going, next year you really need to come. Even if you don't bring a Geo, it is an event you won't be sorry you attended.

As I said, a hearty thank you to JM for all of his work and effort to make this event the success it is. The drive was through some really good scenery, the facilites are outstanding, the food was great and most of all the surrounding company made for a very fun day. JM does it right and I want to personally thank him for making my 16 hour drive worth every minute of it.

I would also like to to offer a huge thank you to JM's wife. She was in all ways gracious and hard working and did every thing in her power to make sure all in attendence were made to feel at home and made sure that the entire event was the great success that it was.

So that's it. Save some vacation or whatever you need to do for next years event. You won't be sorry!

I want to thank everyone who attended and hope they all had a great time! This turned out better than I expected and I am really thankful to have such a strong community of members here. It's great to put a face to a username and meet other family members! A couple of TeamSwift members (mattdodd1988sprint, & swiftychick) made the trip and it was great to meet them.

One thing tonight. During the meet, chad and his 4 door metro (second to last pic) started his car during the meet and I noticed a rough idle that was not normal. After the meet, I met the guys at the campground again and remembered his idle while we were hanging out. Rick (Coyote X), Paul (metroschultz), and I discussed his issue and he had a performance cam and advanced timing gear from 3Tech and his compression test was 180+ across the board. What we discovered was the timing belt was a tooth off and the ignition timing retarded. This was all diagnosed with a piece of firewood used as a makeshift stethoscope and a good ear from Rick. Chad had a smile ear-to ear after we got him figured out and Paul did the final timing adjustment with a test drive and setting the timing by ear (ping) for optimal performance with his 3Tech performance cam and gear. What a difference that made!

Thank you all!

It was a fun time and I had a very interesting trip back home. I had no problems on the way up, but my alternator went out on the way back. Good thing I was able to limp into an Autozone to buy some batteries to make it home. It was interesting to see so many similar cars with different setups.

I was thinking about driving my vert as well as my hatchback, but with 233k miles it's more for local driving.
