Sad to say, but Blue Jay is going to be parted out to save the other 2 cars.

The frame rot on Blue Jay is not limited to just the front control arms, but the rockers, floors, rear control arm mounts, and entire structure is rotting away. We have not driven it since GeoPalooza 2010 because of it's condition. I have welded and patched both front stands, but there is nothing left to weld to anymore. Too bad for such a nice looking car.

I may have already sold the transmission to a guy in PA. The engine I may sell, but I would not let it go cheap. This engine runs better than the ones in my 92 or my 98. I might even drop this engine in my 92 because I like it that much.

The rear drums will go on my 92 along with the front spindles for the safer 13" wheel upgrade. I am also taking the seats and putting them in the 92. The perfect radio and bezel will go on the 98 and possibly the front bumper (Guppy mouth rules) and I already stripped the alternator for the 98.

Whatever is left will get parted out. This car has a beautiful dash and I might even yank that. The wife will now be the proud owner of the 98. We plan on making a trip to see Coyote X sometime soon so we can finish patching the repair he did at Geopalooza and making sure it's safe for her.

I came to this conclusion when I went to jack the car up to remove the alternator. The reinforced section under the floorpan collapsed and pushed the floorboard up. I would not even consider this car for a "mud buggy" because it's so bad.

Stay tuned on the other 2 project forum threads I have as I use every useable part from this car to make the other 2 better and I may even make all my money I have invested in it from selling parts.

Oh thats just sad. All the work for a parts car. Move to Florida, most of the geos I see are rust free. One had holes in the floor that let water in, but pretty good besides that.

I feel I am doing the right thing. There is no sense in dumping countless hours on trying to make the car safe for my wife. I had a frame let go and I would not want my wife to experience the same thing.

This car still runs and drives like a new car and only has 80K on it, but all her parts will be used to keep others like her on the road.

That's the truth JM. All the metros I have looked at down here are pristine. It's a long way to go for a geo, but peace of mind is priceless.

I know. I found my brother a rust-free Texas Metro and he loves it. He always wanted a Metro, but every one he looked at had rot.

Yeah its too bad, but sometimes ya just gotta give up on a geo, not worth the time anymore. It will make a great parts car

save as much as you can man. strip it to every usable part. heck most of the parts will fit in a medium size tupper ware since you are taking care of most of the "big" parts.

put the hatch doors body panels hood etc.. up in the rafters till you need them. all the glass everything. Then it can live on in future metros that absorb its parts.

take my parts prime!! :-)

If you need a place to get rid of the dome light, you could send it my way. ;)

Kinda like being an "organ donor". Nice to know it'll keep on living & helping somebody else.

I feel your pain JM. I've been trying to resurrect the 91 hatchback but the frame is just too far gone. I'm going to try and sell it whole for $450 and if I can't I'll part it out. Everything else is solid on this bad boy. I'll probably take out the A/C and see if I can fit it onto my 90, plus the sunroof.

Johnny & 90, maybe you could post a couple pics of what you would consider "too far gone"?

If you want to get rid of the dimmer switch/rear defrost switches with the bezel attached, send me a pm.

Also if the fuel sending unit is working properly, hit me up with a pm.

When I finish stripping off what I am using on the other 2 cars, I will post a new thread in the proper section with parts. I pulled her car out of the garage today and coming off the ledge, I could feel the floorboard buckle under my feet.
