Ok 3 days After I have Bought I have Started the Restoration Proces. To day I installed a Anti-Fouler onto the REar o2 sensor to Clear/Fake the CPU, Worked Great! Now no "Cheak Engine" Light. I have also Removed the Seats and Cosmetic plastics in the car, plastics have been cleaned and treated, and are back in. I will leave seats out, as I havent Vacuumed or shampoo the carpets yet. Will post more as more is completed. The Anti-Fouler on the rear o2 sensor ![]() The VERY VERY VERY DIRTY carpet. lol ![]() And Pics of the Dirty Engine, Will be cleaned after the interior and Exterior.

I'd like to find a 2000 model myself. Would probably let my 94 XFI go if I could. Where did you find those "antifoulers"?

No criticism here. Looks like you are doing a great job. You said that the plastics were treated. What did you use? |

"Ok 3 days After I have Bought I have Started the Restoration Proces. To day I installed a Anti-Fouler onto the REar o2 sensor to Clear/Fake the CPU, Worked Great! Now no "Cheak Engine" Light." ========================================================================= bad idea and a violation of federal law . what DTC (code) did you have ? was it for the cat converter or the rear 02 sensor ? neither of those two items cost anywhere near what legal fees and fines Tampering with your Emissions System to begin to understand the system you are dealing with type "GM Mode 6" into google , select your car from the menu provide the DTC and i can guide you through correct testing and repair , if you want . ========================================================== from the photos ... i see a cover under your back seat ... rear left side. if the fuel pump / sending unit serviceable through that cover .... anyone .... ? I'll second that! It looks really good. Opinion: Definition #2 a : belief stronger than impression and less strong than positive knowledge. And I'm sticking to it. I don't see the cover mwebb but it's worth checking out, eh. |

That may be but do not have emissions or smog where I live because its concidered "Rural area" I used this trick to Clear the O2 sensor error my light was giving me this Mod will not fix any emissions Problem, though i do not need to because of the "Rural Area" coding. |

The fact that you do not have testing makes it less likely that you will be caught, but it doesn't make it any less illegal (or immoral). California charges $1,500 for anyone caught defeating an emission control device, $2,500 for a business. Other states may be less, but they still have similar fines, I think the Feds do too, California was just the easiest to find when I searched. Also, that catalytic converter is now being operated outside it's design parameters, could easily cause further problems. |

"That may be but do not have emissions or smog where I live because its considered "Rural area" I used this trick to Clear the O2 sensor error my light was giving me this Mod will not fix any emissions Problem, though i do not need to because of the "Rural Area" coding." ..................... yes let us be clear , what you describe is not a "MOD" it is illegal emissions system tampering , if the car were to trim on the rear 02 sensor it would introduce a new problem beyond your ability to resolve at all let alone resolve economically. i do not see any facts which lead me to believe your car does trim on the rear 02 sensor , but to those anonymous lurkers reading this MANY OBD2 cars DO trim on the rear 02 sensor , so if you are contemplating this ... since you do not even know what that means don't do it. nuff said |

Mwebb, you are very smart with computer systems. You have stated before that tampering with the downstream cat will make the car run rich. I don't want to argue, but............. I have a 1997 and a 1998 Metro both with OBDII and both are catless. The 1998 has the downstream O2 sensor plugged in and tied to the frame rail, no check engine light, and I consistantly get 50+ MPG except in cold winter months. The 1997 has the downstream missing (unplugged) and the check engine light on and the first tank is looking to be about 47 MPG after the rebuild. Like I said, I am not going to dispute or argue the numbers game, but I don't think the downstream sensor on the Metro effects the ECU as far as fuel/air mixture. I think the downstream is simply a monitor and will set the light to inform the user of a cat malfunction. |
