I thought I'd let my new GPS guide me home from work, just for S&G's. Just to see how it would take me and if it would be different than how I'd normally go. It sure was!!! So one road it took me up was probably the steepest hill I know of around here, with no run up to the hill. Just left turn, HILL. And I swear I questioned whether or not my little Metro was going to make it to the top!!! Now this is a VERY steep hill, and I know my little go cart is a little underpowered, but geez!!! And by the way it severely affected my milage for that tank. I'm learning that EVERY thing affects gas milage in a Geo. Don't know if that's good or bad, but I am learning what roads I need to be on and how to maintain spped discipline. Pretty cool actually!!

Isn't that a 4cyl. automatic? I don't have any problems with the hills around here! Course I have a running start! :stoner

Victory is mine!!!!

I think your right. Everything effects mpg. The good thing is that if you track your mpg tank to tank you can sometimes tell there is a problem before you see any other symptom.

Yes it's an auto tranny. I guess I kinda got used to my old Toyota lol. That thing would get 37 mpg under any and all conditions. Reliable as the day is long. I recently drove eight hours on the interstate in it, and averaged over 80 mph the entire trip. 37 mpg lol. Probably wouldn't have happened quite that easily in my Metro.

It was a 97 Corolla with a 4 banger auto tranny. And when it finally died 313K on the clock. Darn thing was comfortable at ANY speed and got just great gas milage. Actually yes, 37 mpg, but it would go down a few in winter. Still, it mattered not what speed, it was just a very good car.

Hey Tree, I had a 76 Corolla sport coupe, for a long time. I would wear it out then rebuild it again, and again. I suprised a lot of people in that car. Best mph 42 and it would really get it. Of coarse I lived in a junk yard and had access to a lot of parts. And time to fool with it. We called it the Beast. I gave it to one of my bros when the clock said 570k. We rebuilt it again, and he put another 120k on it. After that it just would not hold onto the axels anymore. I raced the same model in the mini stock class. So anything not fast enough for the track, went into the Beast. Old Corollas, you may not like them. But you can hate it forever! :rocker

Not to bad. But you can tell he is not pushing it really hard through the corners. But still winds up good on the straights. Did it say if he was running a turbo or just naturally asp?
I just went back and looked at the next vid. He has to tall of gears in his final drive. Maybe gear/tire combo. But on some of his shifts you can tell it is to far a jump. If you listen. He has it wound up, then shifts and you can hear he is below his max torque range. It is hurting his times. Still he is having a good time no doubt. :rocker
