The 3rd Annual GeoPalooza is taking place on July 24TH and July 25th 2010 and will be held here...........

Wildwood Acres Family Campground
6091 Marvin Rd
Andover, OH 44003
(440) 293-6838
Open Weekdays 9am-5pm

If you are camping, please call and make your reservations now! You will need to send payment via snail mail by check or money order only after calling. They have no website or online transaction abilities. You need to rent a spot for 2 nights (Friday the 23rd and Saturday the 24TH) and 2 cars and a family of 4 is allowed per spot. People traveling together can arrange this. Rates posted below.

Primitive Site - $23.00 per night
With Water & Electric - $25.00 per night

If you are just visiting, you have to pay a visitor's fee of $4.00 per adult to enter, but this gives you access to all the park activities including the swimming pool, fishing pond, game room, etc. No reservations needed for visitors.

The campground is right across the street from the Andover Drive-In theater. We will be going to the Drive-In theater on Saturday Night. Last year it was $6.00 per person to get into the Drive-In for 2 movies. Should be the same this year. During the day, the Drive-In hosts a lot of Flea Market vendors and there is all kinds of different things there. Here is a map of the campground and I have our area marked on the map. When calling to make your reservations, please specify lot# you want (292 thru 298) or if you want one of the un-numbered electric spots located around the pavilion or we can fill in the blue colored sites (276-291) if we need more .room

If you are needing a Hotel, then there are a couple of choices close-by.........

Green Acres Motel - State Route 7. Kinsman, Ohio 44428 (330)876-4501

Days Inn - 600 Days Boulevard, Conneaut, Ohio 44030 (440)593-6000

Hope to see you all there! 17 spots should be enough for our campers, but if not, they can rent out other sites if needed. Please travel safely and try to arrange a convoy with other members since it's safer to travel with other people when traveling long distances.

If people stay somewhere and meet there it sounds like a Geopalooza lasts more than 1 day is that right?

Correct. If I do this at a campground or state park, GeoPalooza will be a 2-3 day event instead of a one day gathering.

I'm wondering, is it a campground like tent style? Because I don't think my Geo can handle me and a friend +400 pounds of camping stuff. :)

The campground I am considering also has trailer and cabin rentals along with primitive tent camping. This will all be posted when announced.

Hi js112, John has hosted both of the Geopalooza's. There is an old link in the events page. It may be back a little. But it is there.

the geo recently handled me, the wife, the kid, a cooler packed full, various overnight stuff, 2 suitcases, and such. i think i read somewhere the load capacity was 800 lb's. it was way over 800 lbs. and handled and drove just fine. only problems was slow take-off's in the hills. ran 75+ on the highway no problem and 44+ mpg's. or you can do like hacksaw did and drive multiple metro's to the event. i plan on doing this next time, if i can find a metro for the wife to drive up. looking for a 4 door hatchback.

Hopefully i'll have mine back together and reliable enough to make it. I might try and set up a one-day meet for the deep south guys, because that's a very long drive for most of us.

so to resurrect an old topic, it's after the first of the year, how's about that geopalooza 10? i don't mean to be pushy, just curious. i have a friend that works at a screen printing shop, and plan to make tshirts for the event. i was going to last year, but no money to do it, and i didn't know my print shop buddy then. trying to work out getting a second metro for the event. i'm planning for more time off that week to do 3 or 4 days there.

Hey John, being so close to Lake Shore Park I will be there if I can. If you need any help I will be happy to. My 94 geo is still running great. The front left panel had some problems but we worked it out. The 98 Chevy is still siting out front and hasn't been moved for quiet a while. I hope it still runs, since we thought we were selling it we didn't mess with it. Anyways, what goes on during the GeoPalooza event wize?

GeoPalooza 2010 is going to be held at a campground this year. Unfortunately, I cannot post that info until March 1st because the place does not start taking reservations until then and I do not want to mess anything up by posting the number early and they get a bunch of phone calls in the off season :fon

This year instead of renting a Pavilion for a half day, we will all be at the campground hanging out all weekend. This gives those who travel long distances more time to mingle and if they run into problems, they have extra time to get there. The majority of us will rent campsites for one or 2 nights and with that rental, you have access to tons of activities there including a couple swimming pools. The facility is very clean, priced right and well maintained. If you are considering bringing your kids along, they will have a blast!

If you are not a camper, I will also be posting information on Hotels, cabin rentals, etc. These people are still able to visit us at the campground without paying a fee or anything to get in.

This years event will include 2 Ashtabula Covered Bridge Tours and photo shoots that I have routed and we will also be attending the Drive-In theater on Saturday night! Imagine all of our Geo Metros all lined up at the Drive-In theater :D

Anyone thinking of making a vacation out of this will not be disappointed, so bring the wife, the kids, a friend, whatever!

Last year we had a parts swap, but not a lot of people were buying stuff. If you want to haul around parts, that is up to you. I suspect that loading the Geo with camping supplies and the family will pretty much be it.

When the Campground info is posted on March 1st, I highly suggest you call immediately and make your reservations right away. These places fill up fast. I will arrange some sort of agreement with management to save a section for us, but this does not mean you can wait till the last minute to reserve a spot. I want all of us grouped together.

I will post a map and all info needed to make your journey easy. I will also post a thread for those of you wanting to travel together for a Geo Metro Convoy on the way to GeoPalooza. This way people along the route can travel in together from wherever you come from.
