Well, they are a little pricey but I use Chocolate Covered Espresso Beans for long night trips. All the caffeine you want with chocolate and no liquid so you don't have to makes as may pit stops. Great for road trips in cars that go 500 miles on a tank; over 7 hours non-stop. A 1/4 pound at $12 a pound is not a lot considering 3-4 beans may equal a cup of coffee.

Here you go in no order, Wade, Potter, Bobby, Paul, the guy next door. Notice the tent for use in the rain, worked well. I was impressed at how the automatic metro 4 door hatch back drove and shifted. I drove an old auto vw rabbit and it was as if it had a propeller pushing the air vs to the ground. Man, wade has a clean engine bay. Now Paul has an excuse to lock his car. It looks nice and sounded loud with just the 2 speakers installed. The display is green just like the rest of the dash. Photos do not due Potters car justice. It is a deep blue with nice chrome acents. THe wipers and lettering are chrome too. We had a great time. Maybe next time we can bring some cardboard and tape and rice out our cars and make some goofy vidoes like already on You Tube? We could make fake wings, food scoups, etc. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Smooth as frog hair after cutting half a coil each. I had a great time and I believe a good time was had by all. Potter showed from Lexington Cobb came east from Richmond Wade from Norfolk and Stormie who lives around the corner. Potter installed the radio in my Metro, while I lowered Cobb's suspension, and replaced his water pump and timing belt tensioner. Then Stormie showed up on his way to work so everyone could get a look-see at the front end lower control arm brace. It rained like for a while so we put up my canopy to try and help stay dry,Then Wade and Potter fabricated the speaker brackets for my car. The two of them went to Lowes to get some wood/?jdm?/ whatever and returned with 1/16" sheet steel. So my speakers are mounted in the new inside panel that they made and I welded into the car. Thus making my car a little heavier and a little more bullet proof. I did not take pictures, but, Cobb did. He will post them when he has the opportunity. My wife and daughter made burgers and dogs on our grill for everyone to enjoy and we just hung out in the living room shooting the breeze for an hour or so after all the work was completed. Potter stayed in my spare room Saturday night, and today he and I installed a radio in my Buick. Right now he should be climbing the mountains toward Interstate 81 on the last half of his journey home. My Buick is one step closer to being sellable. Now it's up to me to finish the engine work and get it inspected and allow someone to haggle my price down so it can live in another driveway. |

Potter, for night driving I like silver star bulbs or HIDs. Never can hurt to have some amber fogs for that white stuff. It can be a shock at first to drive at night vs day, just got to flip your mirror up for night vision. Brent, I try to avoid caffenine or other stimulants as they can make you too jittery. Look for viatmin b12 or thorine that they put in the g2 gatorade with tiger woods on the bottle. As for bathroom breaks, that is why those older style big mouth mt dew bottles or gatorage bottles are good for. mr murf, yeah left late and I was the only one with a camera and works on Sunday. At least I am off tomorrow. Man, what a nice ride. Nothing like hiting, 64, 264, 664, military highway or 58, 460, 95 all in a day. Whats that saying from the blues brothers movie? I can easily and comfortability hit or exceed 75. I seem to have a bit mroe roll in the turns, the ride is slightly softer. The pavement expansion gaps are still teh same, but speed bumps almost do not exist when ranned over. I can hear the shocks working in the back now, but no scrapping or bottoming out. |

The Blues Brothers, you're thinking; Donald 'Duck' Dunn: We had a band powerful enough to turn goat piss into gasoline. or Elwood: It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark, and we're wearing sunglasses. Jake: Hit it.

made er back safe and sound... man that was a heck of a ride... drove down to pauls at 2 AM... NO BODY WAS ON I-64 between Staunton and Richmond so cranked the tunes, and took my half of the 2 lane eastbound interstate right down the middle and at that point i felt completely free, nothing back here mattered, it was just me and the car. and that set the tone for a Great weekend because the whole time i was at the beach i didnt give a rats @$$ about my problems back here. It was Great to meet some the other Virginians. but we also had a Verry productive weekend. Got the sterio in Schultzs' metro worked out... man those 1/4 pannels are bullet proof. all he needs now are some 4" front speakers. Got some stuff of Cobbs worked out, includeing myself helping him hook up his CD changer Got Schultzs' Buick sterio in order Put some graphics on his wifes car AND we had a good day at the pick and pull. i FINALY got some window cranks for my metro, a shift knob, got some various parts for my Nissan includeing a Darn good batterey for $20 and i got a good hard look at what the under hood is suposed to look like of my nissan... although i forgot to get an instrument cluster for the truck since my Spedo needle is guess work... (of course it would be guess work anyway with those big mud tires on it) And hopefully Schultz can Find that Transmision before the junkyard grimmlin comes again and steals his 3.0L 3speed tranny he needs.and paul got his Speedometer gear for his metro since he changed the final drive and is also up to 13's and pulled him a timeing belt cover as well. It shure was a shame seeing that MG that was all their. just sitting in the pick and pull. Thanks Paul, I had a GREAT time. Can't wait to go back.

Yeah, thanks Potter and Metroschultz. Nice to have my "race car" back with cd capacity. I burn half a qt of oil every 200 miles, but it rolls just fine and still exceeding 200 miles at half a tank used. I cant wait to block the grill now the ac is off and mount the cd player. I grabbed Potter to look at my radio as I could not find or recall hooking the cd player din connector. My radio is a sony 180 watts with cassette and remote 10 disk changer. I had the changer and it was wired, but never installed by the previous owner. Never occured to me to hook it up to see if it works. Potter pulled my head unit and found what I called the antenna wire was the din cable and how to enter the cd player mode by cycling through fm, am, etc. Now just got to mount it somewhere other than the slim sub speaker box. Metroschultz has a nice solid speaker mount that can be felt through the body. If he blows those we can easily hack it for some 6x9s. It is unbelievable how much planning needs to go into a system. My adventure with my insight cost about 600 bucks, but its the sound I want. I guess if i did what I did from the start it would be 50 bucks saved and a few weeks sooner, but the sound is well worth it. You said it potter. Its nice to loose it in the tunes and following that white line down the road. 295 can be a lonely road too at night except for a cop or 2. I was shocked at how empty 664 was. Nothing like having 8 lanes to myself. I was tempted to try drifting like you see in those Japanise videos, but I thought I had pushed my luck enough that day without seeing any cops. I put in for vacation in July for a whole week and next month need to get the block heater in my insight and fog lights installed correctly, at least the wiring. I have the lamps installed per instructions, but hid lamps with a relay kit tothe battery. Then that hooked to a cig plug with swtich to turn them off and on by relay. This way I can run them without head lamps or with high beams, but they cut off with the key. |

It was a good day. Long, but good. Geo Metro - male bonding. Good pics Cobb - Did you have to catch the glare off the top of my head? :baldheaded emoticon/ Before I replaced the exhaust manifold on the 1.3L, I soaked the replacement in a cat-litter box full of orange juice for 3 or 4 days to eat the rust off. Then sprayed it and the heat shield with high-temp aluminum paint. It has held up well. Only the heat shield screws seem to be rusting. Good thing you didn't take a pic from below - I need to reseal the oil pan. I'm a retired Navy engineman and it was instilled in me that fuel and oil leaks are unacceptable. Did cutting the 1/2 coil off of the front seem to affect your toe any? Potter, the "white" spots in my paint job don't seem to wanna compound out. I'll probably compound it, and wax it for winter. Then prep to paint next spring. What's that noise I hear in Shultz's Metro? Long awaited - tunes! It was a worthy collaboration. |

Yeah that was fun. I recall when I was in school in the early 90s kids making fun of my uncles car, the metro and or swift depending on what year. THey referred to it as a beer can. I liked it and I liked having to pay him gas for carrying me to school when I was suspended from riding the bus even better vs his chevy k1500. As I mentioned my uncle use this car vs the tacoma he had during the snow/ice storm in 2000 as it was small enough to drive under the bent over ice filled trees and had no traction problems. The previous years metros and swifts he said did poorly in rain and snow. I like the way it handles and its even better with the springs cut half a coil. We could do another coil and drop it 2 more inches. It seems to roll a bit more in turns, but its a smoother ride over dips. It does seem to track better, however toe in the front and back can do that. Alignment is another ball of wax, however when I have used lowering springs of an inch or 2, the toe is usually effected a few degrees. Yeah Wade, you got a clean engine. I too hate oil leaks and assumed when I got mines from the cam fixed it would reduce the oil lost from the engine. WHO knew I was burning it like a mutha? Thanks for clearing up the oj and cat litter part. Never heard of that, but sounds like something to try when I get the engine rebuilt. No worried about the glare, Ive lost quite a bit of hair over the years too. The speaker panels are above and beyond what I expected. We got a great starting point to give loud geo a run for his money. We could easily mount some 8s in the back panels, then 4s in the hatch. |
