I drive a 97 Geo Metro (1.3L) automatic. Two years ago it was my daily driver. Last year my daughter borrowed it and I just got it back in June. The only reason she gave it back was because I found her a sweet deal on a 97 Suzuki Swift (1.3L) automatic. I bought the Swift and she's paying me monthly.

I had the engine in the Metro replaced during the summer. Got a good deal on an engine with only 40, 000 km. Last week I installed 195/60/14 tires on Cragar Racing Super Lite rims. During the next few tanks of gas, I'll see what the mileage is.

I really like the Geo because it's easy to work on. Changing cvjoints and seals, brakes, struts are easy. Tune ups are a breeze. Changing the timing belt was a real pain the first time, but now it seems simple compared to changing timing chain on my Cherokee Sport.

My mods wishlist to close up the front bumper to make it more areodynamic, install a cruise control and I'd really like to have a arm rest between the two front seats with a shorter shifter. If I use the coffee cup holder, I can't put the car into park. I'm open to any reasonable suggestions for the arm rest if anyone has improved theirs.

Thanks,
Wilcko

Welcome Wilcko! :coffee

I'm running an air dam attached to my bumper. I think it helps.

I have not done the arm rest, owing to having the e-brake in the way. I did however install a runway for our 9 lb. dog Gracie. It rests on the e-brake cover and it's two legs.

I think the best one would have to mount to the seat itself, at least that seems the easiest.

Welcome to the Metro family Wilcko! :cheers

Im thinkin bout doing an armrest/cupholder project as well... came to the realization this morning that i have no whare to put my :coffee

The way im going to do mine is take an armrest/e-brake cover from a Honda Accord and mold it up to the shifter housing... bud did one in his old CRX that he totaled and before he molded it we tried it in my metro and it fits, just make shure its not an offset parking break or you'll run into troubble... i was gonna include pictures but he has since taken them down due to his new CRX project.

When I made the piece to cover most of the front of the Rocket. I used the alum flashing. It is really thin. Easy to cut and add no weight. I did have to move the Lis plate to one side. I left on slot open in front of the rad. I did travel over to the valley and had to open one more up with my SS pocket knife. Found out the flashing is shaper than my knife. The hard way. LOL It works good and had no effect on my cooling. Well at least not on the coast

There are 2 armrest how to's on this site. One is mine, the 95-2000 & the other is an '89-94', both of which use a center console from a Dodge Neon. Mine turned out good & I love it! I wouldn't have it any other way...it was one of my 1st complaints about the car.
