Use this to figure compression ratio after milling the block or head (or both)- http://www.wallaceracing.com/millcalc.php. Milling 0.030" off the head will up your compression ratio to 10.5:1 (Source: http://www.wallaceracing.com/Calculators.htm) |

Well just ordered a new oil pump from partsdinosaur for $69.95 +shipping, I dont want to pour all this money into this build and be relying on an oil pump with 390k miles already on it....it still looks/feels like its in good shape but I dont want to risk it.

You recommend partsdinosaur? I need to ghetto rebuild in frame. I got a rebuilt head and new oil pump, timming belt and water pump. Thanks |

Yeah highly recommended, they sell quaility parts at great prices.... Mullet and several other members have used their parts for their rebuilds too! |

Chad, I am a little confused, why are you decking the head to increase the compresion ratio for a turbo? Usually you want to lower it, which also increases the displacement. Am I wrong here or should you get a thicker gasket or some spacer plates? I may consider decking the head, but no forced induction here. Just enough timming for cheap gas. |

Kinda hit a roadblock BUT its ok..... suprf1y said that kyle's head was infact milled for higher compression, and that its actually more like 10.5:1!!!!! OOOPS ![]() Heres the plan: *I am going forward with the rebuild, it will be happening this friday and saturday (the 26th & 27th) . We will NOT install the turbo setup at this point. *In the meantime I will send my spare head to Mike @ 3Tech (which is factory compression 9.25:1 according to him) He will work his magic on it, port & polish, clean it up, inspect the lifters, etc, and ship it back to me. I will then swap them, install the turbo setup, and ship the high comp head back to him as a core. phweeeeew........................ Anyway I'm still syked for the build, with 10.5:1 comp, 365/222 cam, the 3tech head with its port and polishing, the ported exhaust manifold, this thing should still scoot....AND DONT WORRY, SHE WILL BE BOOSTED IN TIME FOR GEOPALOOZA! I will take plenty of pictures of the rebuild process, and maybe a driving vid (before and after) lol I should make a guide, " You may have a blown headgasket if your car does this...." |

Glad to see you rethink the compression thing Chad. If its to high, once you boost it. Bang. Your back to square one. I am interested in how your motor works with that cam. I am running the same one. But still abit from hearing it run for the first time. I am gonna focus on the 3 into 1 manifold next. |

I really wasn't aware of the higher compression. Huh, maybe that's why it kept popping headgaskets... |

Yeah I figured that you were not aware of it. It very well could have been the reason why you were popping headgaskets! I guess we will see how reliable it is when I have it on 9.25:1?
