Sad story, but I will abbreviate. I let my dad drive my Geo to work, he got rear-ended at a stop light. Guy in a big F250 (company truck, and drives it like one) accelerated before my dad started moving and hit him. Messed up the bad pretty bad, will probably want to total it, I'm not sure what I want to do about it. Pics later.

Oh he's fine, they were all stopped and the guy gunned it off the line and my dad has only driven one other manual. (64 mustang with a 302) So he's not used to such a "slow" car. |

I can't blame him, it's as much his as mine. (well that's a lie, but he didn't mean to so i'm not mad) I have been driving it for about four months without even a single person honking at me.

Bumper, tail light, and it is making a funny noise now. I think that the hatch itself my be dinged up. They will probably try to total it, but I don't want that. What do I need to do/ try to get for the damages? (yes I know that I have no pictures it won't let me) |

First things first, if you want e-mail me the pictures and I will post them for you. Second, they may try to total your car but that is up to you. Tell them (if you want) hell no, it is your car and it runs to well to total. Don't sign any papers until you get what YOU want. Tell them your dad may have medical claims, that scares the hell out of them. Also, if you keep the car, don't allow them to put a salvage title on it. Remember you are the claimet and your the one with the rights. I got broad sided in my first Geo (by a duelly company truck) and they wanted to total it, I wouldn't allow it, but I got a check for the blue book value of the car and keep a clear title. I bought the parts to fix it my self and made a profit on the repairs. Don't let them bully you. |

Could always try Image Shack, as posted in the for dummies section. The downloading of the program takes a few seconds and gives you ready made links for the site. |

If nothing else, tell them you need a full day to think about what they have proposed and post it here for a free second opinion, no snap decisions. YOU did nothing wrong. THEY should make it right - the way you want it. It was their choice to take the gamble on insuring the other driver and they don't want to loose. |
