Man my head hurts now. I was just talking to a buddy at work who races drag bikes. I told him about the warm fuel theory and he said when it gets cooler at the track he gets more hp and doesn't use as much fuel as he does when its hot. I guess the best thing is trail and error and post results.

Some cars naturally run rich. When the air is cooler it is more dense so there is an increase in O2 molecules per volume. This leans out the mixture a bit for more power and helps complete the burn. FWIW, I went to the track one cool night without a thermostat (can't remember why I didn't have on in). My car wouldn't run for crap and my times were horrible (well, a little more horrible than what I usually ran). My engine never heated up to the proper operating temp. I can tell you that my car ran absolutely incredible in the early morning when it got to suck down cold wet air (fog and mist). The wate helps the chemical reaction between the air/fuel. Yes, please try some stuff and post the results. Just be careful when playing with gasoline and try not to heat up your tank. |

I am not sure how much it affects injected cars. Mr Mweb tries to explain to us all the things the computer and sensors do and to me it really gets complex. As Mr Rmcelwee also said I know that a Carburetored car running in a cool, high humidity morning will really preform well. Back in the old days(here we go again) we used to run cool cans. We would take a can and coil copper line in it then put it the fuel line. Then we would fill it up with ice.
