Grr

Here is what I want to know. What is the gearing of that six speed and can it be mated to a Geo 3cyl engine? These metro's really NEED a 6th gear.

im sure you could find the ratios if you googled them, but it would be far from fitting on a geo. they are performance close ratio gears anyways, I doubt the overdrive is that much different

making some progress, nothing pic worthy yet, but these are the things currently needed:
rear motor mount
hydraulic to cable conversion for the clutch (I can just make a bracket and probably just use the geo cable, its long enough)
cut some holes n shit to fit the linkage through the firewall (the stock location wont work as I learned today)
cut out some of the headlight frame to fit the waterpump pulley (it rubs)
get axles made up

hydraulic cylinder that is exposed, im going to build a bracket and drill through the lever and attempt to use the stock geo cable to pull it

The diagram is showing a Sentra/Stanza/Pulsar trans. After the welding on the cover, were you able to get it back flat?

In the 90s that was one of the hottest units around. That and the A465 out of the Dodge Chargers/mini vans. I have built a lot of those. If you get the trans out. Make sure you use a brace to hold the engine in place. The biggest complaint was not having 5th gear after a trans or clutch swap. The mounts get tired and the engine/trans package does not sit where it should. Then the 5th gear does not have enough linkage to make it hit 5th. Everyone of them does this

this motor/drivetrain has 45000km on it, from an 02-06 model

That one should have all the updates. It should have a gold colored counter balance on the TO arm. If the case surrounding the diff is extra large, it may have the posi. I have only seen one, ever. But they did make one

This is you, so you must be online

I find the QR25DE an odd duck of an engine when paired with the 6 speed trans. It makes very good torque low down on the power curve and the "curve" is actually pretty flat throughout the RPM range. The 6 speed trans is close ratio and helps keep an engine in its power curve... but is it really needed with this engine? Now the SR20 series engine worked quite well with a close ratio trans due to its high RPM power.

Case in point: Some drag racers have replaced the 6 speed with a more conventional 5 speed and actually lowered their ETs.

I think a perfect trans for this engine is a CVT. Does that mean I'm going to swap my 6 speed out for a CVT, hell no. :D Sometimes a row through the gears is quite fun... just wish 1st gear would last a little longer.
