I am sorry, I left out one detail. When you are fabing something like this. Always start with cardboard. Its much cheaper than the alum. And since my favorite hobby is drinking and working with power tools. I goof it up. Soooo... I always start with something cheap to replace if I screw it up. Did you remember to leave an opening in front of the radiator? In the winter it will be less of a problem. But once it warms up, it can get to be a big problem. Our cars are light in the cooling area. The mod looks good though. How thick is your aluminum? One cheap source for alum. stock that has always worked well for me, road signs. I go to the scrap yards and get the old signs. Now they are thicker than I talked about. Not to good for the weight issue. But if you need thicker alum. Its cheap. You get it at a scrap price. And it could say something cool too.

Good idea on the road signs but be careful.. Over the years I managed to pick quite a few signs. Never get caught with a real Stop sign. Around here some LEOs get anal about it. Anyways I had quite a few road signs, curve ahead,Bump, Dip etc. I never stole any of them all from legit sources. I had 12 acres so I put them in the field along with a broken traffic signal. It really looked cool. I even had a old Fiero waiting in front of the traffic signal. One day my wife called me at work and said the Sheriff and a State trooper were looking for me. Grand theft of city and state property!!!!! WTF I had receipts for the signal and some of the signs. SOBs really gave me a hard time about it. I guess you are not even supposed to have them in your possession. Might just be a Alabama red neck sheriffs thing but I didnt want to go to jail over it. . ps I didnt get rid of all of them.

I just laughed my ass off. One bad thing about working with alum that hard. They do not bend really well. They are a harder aluminum than most. So if you are trying to "break" a shape or angle. Just don't get to close to 90degrees. It fails and the point of the break. and then you have to start over. And welding with them, you must remove the clear protective coating. Or it fouls the weld, and you have to breath the crap it off gasing. Yucko.

This is the mod I did to block the front. I cut a small 1"x4"(to small) opening for air flow.I'll open it up soon but right now the temps outside are in the 20's so I dont have a problem. I used screening thats used to repair home screens to allow air in. After I got it all like I wanted I taped off the painted surfaces and sprayed it with undercoating. http://yfrog.com/7bgeo09j

Thats cool, I had not thought of putting a screen in mine. I do forget that the rest of the country is very cold right now. |

I know its just my poor ol failing eyes, but trying to make out what you did when your shooting a black on black background with a dark shadow and no lighting on the subject...sorry, it was more than I could manage ![]() ....I hope you don't mind, I modified it so I could make it out, and re-uploaded it. I figure if I can see it, everyone and anyone else should be able to as well however, if you want it taken down again, just let me know.

Got some good advice from "bad bent" on using the landscaping material as a air dam on the front. I picked up some last night with plans on putting it on today but ran out of time. I did however use it to fill the gap between the hood and bumper. With the hood down I made a thin line with a pencil on the bumper as a guide to follow. Measured and cut a piece to fit in. Held it in place while I tapped on it with a hammer over the bolts to give me a spot to drill my holes. After I drilled them I trimmed off the excess. Fits great. Hope to get started on the air dam soon if it will ever warm up.

Nice! I had some landscaping stuff ($30 at Walmart) and was going to use it as a front spoiler but it wasn't tall enough for what I needed. I took it back to the store last week. I am waiting for a neighbor to do their yard so I can ask for a little piece of it (too cheap to buy it myself). |
