replacing my timing belt

I am going to be replacing my timing belt this coming weekend after i swap my tranny. I have been reading some stuff on the forum bout a 10* timing gear. Would installing on of these help me out in MPG and a little bit more performance. Once the car is on the road and all it will see a mountain pass that has a 14% grade on it and once clear of the pass it will see 65MPH at the top end. I will also be using it to travel some also.

I think the gear is good for 5hp or so, and yes it should help with your MPGs.

Make sure you don't skip a tooth when you put the timing belt on. Also, advance the distributor until it pings and then back off a little.

should i run a higher octane fuel with this gear? if so that may negate the whole reason i bout the car. Cheaper on fuel. out here we have 86, 88, 93 octane. the 93 is uselly around 3 bucks a gallon. in my jeep i run 88 and that cost me 60 bucks a tank every day.

I'm running 87 w/the gear, I doubt you will negate it even if you had to run jet fuel.
