Not sure how many gallons my 95 1.0 hatchback has. I have filled up tiwce so far . The first was 7.2Gallons and the second was closer to 8 before the gas starting spilling out the top of the inlet. Im calculating about 42mpg right now. It will still take a few more full tanks to get an average. How far can i drive once the gage hits the top of the E. I guess i should carry a gallon container full of gas and just run it till its completely empty to see how far I can go. |

Ecstasy is a powerful drug, I wouldn't drive when you are on it. But seriously, your tank is nearly 11 gallons. I drive about 80 miles once it hits E. |

Yeah I was about to say that. Run it dry and let us know. its different for all cars though. Last night I filled up just a hair BELOW the E line and it tool 8.97 gallons of gasoline which means I still had 1.63 gallons in the tank (10.6 gallon tank) or enough to go at least another 80 miles give or take. |

Woo, i probably wouldn't get very far on Ecstacy thats for sure. I'd be to busy dancing to the music in my stereo. Thanks for the info, best for me to just carry and extra gallon to see how far i can push the miles. |

i went another 75 miles on E once before i chickened out and put gass in it... it was 10 gal even... so i was close. As Nerys said its verry hard on the fuel pump becaue you will go pretty far on a dry tank just clearing the lines out. Then again im VERRY superstisious about stuff i never let any vehicle go below 1/4 tank due to damage to the fuel pump. same thing about batereys on cement or out on the ground. |

I was thinking... until it stops? It's a trick question right? You can so it backwards, figure you carry an exact gallon, run it until it stops, put in a gallon and hope you are 40 miles from the gas station of your choice. Of course we all believe the tank is 10.6 as nerys says and my Chilton says 10.5. Truth, reality, so vague depending on what planet you are on, eh Hollywood.

I have one. But like you said. I'm lazy. Makes for a good inventor though. A lazy man will work really hard one time. So he can coast the rest of the time. LOL To much beer and linquiny. LOL |

dont believe anything anyone quotes you. you honestly need to find out for yourself if you are that concerned. but know that a fuel pump is always pumping fuel, even if its just getting returned back into the tank. it does this to keep itself cool, the fuel itself is like a coolant in a way. it is very hard on a fuel pump, and some say bad on the injectors too to be spraying air. not to mention when the car runs lean its bad for it. any time the fuel pump is removed theres a chance of throwing the pickup off its normal axis. its tricky to get in and out and sometimes it can catch and bend just an 1/8th of an inch. which is enough to cost you miles you thought you had. long story short, try it out if you really want to know. I did on my expensive walbro pump too.... it IS useful information |
