In the menu below the banner, I have added the free "Live Chat" link again for us to use. More info on using this is found here.......... http://geometroforum.com/topic/2152986/ You must have Java enabled or downloaded for it to work. It's free! The other option is the Shoutbox found on the bottom of the index page........... FORUM INDEX The Shoutbox is also free and is integrated using the regular forum software and only members can use it. Try them out and vote for the one you want to keep. |

ahh both. shoutbox is good for leaving semi persistant message for others to see while the chat is good for many people on at the same time. what would be REALLY neat is a split screen so a small frame at the bottom with the "chat" while we browse and read threads on the upper frame. |

Actually, Nerys, you can do this if you use a tabbed browser that allows you to open links in a different window ![]() I would also vote for both, however. While as Nerys points out the shoutbox is useful for a hello or whatever, its not ideal for a real chat like experience due to time delays on answering and such. Jm already knows, however, my personal bias, I missed live chat so much I downloaded a client and still go there and stare at Wiki's name most of my free time

I personally prefer the shout box , its more convenient since its right at the bottom of the index and there's more of a chance of people seeing your message |

Didn't say it was an elegant solution, just *a* variation of what you were saying, i.e. having the chat window stick around in some form while you browse, arranging your windows to every advantage, it works for me to view it while browsing. I use a 24" monitor and have my res at the highest it will support as well, since what you don't see in the picture is my modeling window and several other programs intentionally minimized just to take the shot, live chat had a float option similar to my solution for the shout box but with a much cleaner interface than even the client I am using. As always, ymmv on solving it for you
