Hi all
Having some time off work I found time to strool around the local junks yard mostly looking
for small parts for 95 metro restoration. On my way out walking the last row I come to fade
Blue 93 metro. stopping only for a moment I take some steps stop turnaround and on the
smashed hatchback in the folds of metal XFI. (swing)
20 min. and 26$ later I leave with the cam gear and distributor.
I left the ECU. as it was closing time homeward bound for MNF and whiskey !
My questions are....
Will this work as a drop-in replacment for the stock ?
Should I have it checked at the machine shop ?
Any of your ideas would great.
Thanks Steve

Is your question regarding the cam/gear? or the ECU? The cam/gear will drop right in, and I think that the ECU will too, but you're not going to gain much more by installing it.

If the XFi still had the transmission, you may want to get that and sell/keep it.

Bingo, grab the cam shaft, you can put thermite on the rest of it.

Good bye

If the xfi still had the original tranny you could go from a 4.37 to a 3.79 final drive. Even if the tranny was bad chances are the final drive is good. Usually only 2nd gear is bad.

It's the cam itself that you want, gear is no different and distributor will probably not work with your 95, wasn't any magic in the distributor anyway. Most of the XFI goodness was the final drive ratio in the transmission and the cam that let the engine deal with the tall gears.

Thanks to you all for the input.
The plan is to make the 95 into a freeway commuter. something like
Jon Mullet did with his fine red ride. To finish up the trans was missing
from the XFI and I took the distributer out of confusion over compatabilty now its time to find a tall gearbox

Get a trans from a regular 89-94 Metro.
The 4.10 gear is about as tall as I'd go with the 95+ cars, and in the end will work out the same as the xfi ratio, anyway.
