I only got 38 MPG out of my first fill up of the metro. This was mostly city driving and it has been in the 40's and 50's here for most of this tank. I also got new tires in the middle of this tank. I am going to double check the pressure tomorrow. I checked, and i don't have any stored codes and the car seems to run very well so I have no reason to suspect low compression, but I am going to check tomorrow. I have been scared to up til now, I just don't think I want to know I start my highway commute tomorrow so we'll see how this next tank goes. BTW, I have no codes, but if the EGR was stuck OPEN would it throw a code? If it was open, would my MPG be affected? Rob |

Depending on how you drive, that's not a bad mileage. With cold weater/winter gas, you will get worse gas mileage. (by a lot) |

I usually get around 45-49 MPG in the winter (mods and driving style considering). |

5 MPG increase if your engine is running right. |

I can't wait to get this new motor running. How much do you think and eco head package will get you? 6-8 MPG increase? |

That's not bad for city driving on winter gas. I got around 43 mpg with my two GEN3 3/5's on my normal city/highway mix. You're also still getting used to the car, and your first fill-up is sort of random anyway, how full was it to start with? I don't even consider an mpg calculation without knowing the tank before and the tank after, with our small tank, a one quart difference in how full you got it will skew the numbers drastically. You also should check your speedometer and odometer against a hand held GPS, those new tires might very well be a little taller, you're really going farther than you think. |
