An update: I fiddled with it some more, and got it to where it starts reliably. Still wants to die at idle in gear once warmed up, but....it actually drives better....faster, much faster. like I always thought it should be. Real push you into the seat acceleration, and it's still running like :shit , but I actually have throttle response through the full range of peddle, not just half, and for the first time it kicked down into second for passing. Wow, was that a surprise. I would bet it is literally twice as fast as it was before. Now I'm excited and looking forward to headers and underdrive pully! woo hoo!! At work we have a mechanic I trust very much and he is gonna take a look at it sometime this week. He's pretty sure it's a timing/fuel tune type issue, and he's worked on GEO's before professionally. I'm sure between the previous owner and myself all the little things are jacked up, and i don't have the tools/tolerance/patience to find. That's why God invented mechanics, and I thank him. For now it's drivable, but once warmed up I gotta use the 2 foot method and neutral when stopped to keep it running. And, just so you know, I did try to check out many of the suggestions, including compression test (loaner tool from oreily's didnt work) replaced all vac hoses, looked at spark, etc. I had a really crappy week last week and just want to thank everyone for posting and trying to help. That kept me going.

I believe I mentioned...
With the SRD header (Catco Cat. & glasspack) and pulley installed I went cruising on the freeway at about 85-90, while on vacation with the Wife. Playing with a Beemer. :D This vid is a year later after the 218/350 cam and +10 cam gear install... photobucket.com/ BadBent's run.

So I have to ask if you have checked the coolant hoses on the Throttle Body for heat. If clogged (no flow = cold) they will cause such problems as it will run rich. Too rich and it would flood, and there's also mwebb's fuel injector test: See post #21 or you should see the even spray when it's idling, try using a timing light in the dark, aimed at the spray.

I hope this week is going better... ^o)

Do have good flow at TB. Might be a stuck something or other. yesterday when I came home, i pulled up and stopped, but in gear. It idled perfectly! Smooth even. Let it sit that way for 30 sec or so, then just bumped the gas peddle. immediately idled down and died. Something sticking every so often would explain all my trouble to adjust the dang thing, I think. Gonna spray the crap out of everything with cleaner and wd40. On a side note, when I said I thought performance was way up..in my video I went 0-60 in 24 or 26 seconds. Did the same thing yesterday and got to 60 at 18 seconds.
