94 3 door G10. 5 speed When I bought this car recently it would idle good, had plenty of power as long as you don't exceed 1/3 throttle.Anything past that,it bogged badly.I first replaced the TPS with a used one off a TBI I had.No change.Well I thought not,but tried it 'cause I had one.I never checked the fuel pressure, just bought a pump from Napa.BOY are they high, but I was getting the "good stuff". Sock was extra, too. And pricey. That fixed it---for 3 weeks. It started to bog again at part throttle. This time it eventually quit pumping as I tried to drive out the gas, which can take 3 forevers on a Metroid.Bad pump again,Napa warranted it.I aint never gonna pay extra for a Napa part again. But it would probably be hard to get warranty on ebay.Well I figured if any boys and girls out there were having this kind of fun with their Metro,it might help.0-60 mph in....Whats today? Also I've done a few timing belt/pump replacements on these cars, and I quit worrying about cover noise, thats a ![]() 992B |

I am not sure I understand the question. If you are having to replace the fuel pump often, you need to look for a low current issue. A bad ground to the pump or resistance in the positive feed will cause the pump to fry way too early. |

Welcome to the forum, 992B! What metroschultz said. You can check out mwebb's TB Injector test for a possible solution. The Throttle Body is grounded(?).

see voltage drop testing in the how to area . ==================================================== if / when you remove the fuel pump again. make sure you look in the bottom of the tank for water and other doo doo which if ingested can kill a fuel pump deader than dog poop in very little time you must replace the fuel filter you should do a post mortem on the old one to see what is in there , if anything have you confirmed that there is no fuel pressure at the failure ? |
