Thought I'd post a few pics of the 91 vert and 90 hatchback from yesterday. I was also driving through the countryside north of Lancaster, OH and found somebody's home (a junkyard, really!) and noticed a few Metro shells there. Took a few pics so here they are. The gray one has an automatic transmission and is the guy's daily driver. The others are for parts. All are 2nd generation Metros. Enjoy.

I've got some work to do on the vert. It's been stalling on me, so I think it's either an fuel injector or fuel pump issue. I also need some lower profile tires because the front tires rub a bit. Beyond that I'm happy with the body of the vert. BTW, I've got a call into the guy who owns the Metros I've posted above to see what kind of parts he's got and get some prices. I need a new hood and fender for an XFI I picked up this weekend. Good news everybody.....the XFI only needed a clutch kit and clutch cable. Running like a beast! I've got alot of body work remaining though. I'm taking it to an experienced welder to work on the frame stands. I only have this one pic of the XFI taken in the dark. More pics when my buddy returns it to me in the next day or so.

I've been fortunate in finding two XFIs in the last year alone. Here's a pic of an XFI I rehabbed last year. The car was absolutely filthy when I bought it. It had nasty after market decal stickers all over it (butterflies for Pete's sake!) and the interior was trashed. Came out real nice.

I still have not seen an XFi here yet. Looks nice. Great work. I wish I could do body work. Gears are my thing. Not paint. Most of my life, my hands have been to greasy to do body work. LOL

Okay, as promised, here are pictures of the piece of crap 1992 Geo Metro XFI that I picked up for $200 over the weekend. The car has significant rust on the undercarriage and forward frame stands. I won't know how bad until I get it stripped apart. The driver's side frame stand is in better shape than the passenger side, but both sides need attention before I put it back on the road. It's apparent that I'll be cutting off most of the rocker panels and welding new ones on. I'll need to find a donor car to accomplish this. The engine has 179k but with a rebuilt clutch kit.....runs like a charm. That's the least of my problems!! Why oh why do I take on the impossible??? :banghead Hopefully when it's all finished the car will be white with black trim. More pics in a few months!

Johnny, can you change this thread to the Project Forum for me? Thanks.

Okay, time for some updated pictures of the rehab project. You can see from the photos above that when I rolled the car home it already had problems. But after painstakenly removing the seats, carpet, and majority of the interior (except the dash) the cancer becomes much more obvious. I took a grinder and jigsaw to the rockers on both sides to expose as much rust to that portion of the undercarriage as possible. My job now becomes removing all rust and welding in fresh floorboard, rockers, and other areas affecting structural integrity. Ironically, I'm finding that the skeletal frame supports (the crossbands that run east and west on the floor) are sound, as are the areas they're welded into.

The next time I post pics I'll have all doors removed, front fenders removed, and hopefully all problem rust areas removed. I'll take more pics of the welding process as I'm going along. I would normally trash a car this far gone but I'm trying my hand at welding and reassembly.

Here's a closeup of where I zipped off the rocker panel on the driver's side. I believe I can rebuild this but it will take time and patience.
