I bought a Geo from a Geo enthusiast who had over 300,000 miles on his 91. Mine now has 230,000 miles on it and burns no oil. I have rebuild four Geo engines, and have yet to use a cylinder reamer for the top of the cylinder to remove the pistons. None of the four engines had as much as 2 thousands of an inch wear at the top of the cylinder. I know it sounds like a boat load, but the cylinders just don't wear. I don't know why, but it is so. What WILL cause them to burn oil is parking them for an extended period, and not starting them, or not changing the oil in a reasonable period of time. The rings get gummed up and stick in the piston, and can't seal the oil from the top of the cylinder. Putting two ounces Seafoam on each cylinder throu the spark plug hole, and letting it sit for a week, then starting it up to warm up, turn it off and do that again for about three times can loosen the rings, and solve the problem of oil burn. But the best thing to do is just to drive them! We are talking about amazing little engines here. Chevy went out of business, and they are too dumb to think that if they started selling thses cars again they could come back to be a great power again. They go on and on and on, if we take just a little care of them.

Remember the chevette's? they were a tough little car too. It just shows that the less complex the better.

Right on Geonaught. Easy driving and consistent maintenance. My two drivers are at 180K and 119K and the driveway is spotless. Every 3,000 miles they get an oil change with no noticeable loss of oil. (I may go to every 4,000 now that I'm on Mobil 1, 0W-30.

Please just call me; "Schultz"

I was working at a Chevy dealer when they came in from Brazil.
I had a lot of "fun" also when we had to do the cam follower recall.
8 little holders to push the followers down.
slide the cam out the front.
replace the followers.
push the new ones down.
replace the cam.
Yay what fun.
