This is the 1993 Geo I bought on January 2nd (during a snow storm). I call it my Geo Metro Station Wagon because it looks kinda like a miniature station wagon to me.

My mechanic took a look at it and told me it was in good shape for $900. No body rust, maintained vehicle. It was a Grandmother's car. The fan belts squeal for the first three minutes I start it up, but other than that it is fine. I got used to driving it real quick. It is rather fun to drive.

It gets 33 mpg. It's an automatic, unfortunately, but it was too good an opportunity to pass up.

I drove it to school one day and met another Metro owner who pulled in before me. We started talking about our cars. It really does seem to have a community following. It was cool to meet someone new that way.

Anyway, I'm really lovin' my Geo and hoping I can keep it for a year or two.

Later, Jim

My wife bought that exact model back in 93. Hers was dark blue. We used it to go back and forth to Iowa when my daughter was in college. Good car I posted a story once of going thru Memphis in it. Hope you like it, I sure did. First time I drove it I stopped after about 100 miles to get gas. I thought the gas gauge was broke. No way I could go that far on just a little over 2 gallons. :banana :banana :banana

Welcome Douglas! Amazing how such a little crapbox of a car (I say that with all the love in the world) can grab our hearts like that, isn't it. Your alternator belt is slipping, they all do it, needs to be tighter than hell. Get a Goodyear Gatorback belt, install it tighter than you would think is right, then retighten it a couple of days later, it'll work for years.

Great car. Get it in a garage if you can. Squealing belts are common. Some try gatorback belts (available on ebay). I want to get a 4 door to complete my collection. A find like yours would be wonderful!

I used to own two of them.
I told my wife I was going to cut the back end of both off and weld them together to make a

That is so true. I love driving mine. And it is hard to describe all the reasons why.

I have a little red (4DR) hatch that handled so well I bought it after seeing it once.
I wanted to do an off-road mini-suv; since its an automatic anyway.

I like yours too; great color. Welcome aboard :cheers
