Hi all,
My 1990 metro 1L quit working.I was in a trafic and it stopped. There was a spark, but no gas going in.I put some gas directly under the air filter and the motor started.I had same problem 2-3 times until got home. When I pour a little gas in it works for a while.I disconnected gas supply and return hoses to check the fuel pump-it works.Took off the injector and tested it with 12V -it works, but no power is coming to.Any ideas, guys?I could not see bad wires, but I'd like to check them out for a bad connection.Do those yellow wires come from the pump relay and ECM?
Everything would be helpfull. Thanks in advance.

:cheers It's workiiing. What did I do?(1)Took off the fuel pump relay, because I wanted to check the connection to the injector-the wire was OK.(2)Took off the ECM,found the wire that goes to the injector and checked for power at the ECM-yes there was a power 12V coming and checked for same at TBI.First I had only coming from the relay, but then with the ign.switch on got 12V to both of the wires at the injector. With the switch on I disconnected the ground from the battery and many times put it on -off,so I was able to watch what happens in the throat. The injector did pop and I smelled gas.Went in the car and started the engine. It was working not good on 2cyl.1 spark plug was out.Put the old ones that I still keep.No more fake "Autolite"-a few months old and that's it.
BTW next is a good one. That black plastic vacuum filter on the back side of the air filter pan was pluged with a screw inside that peace of 1 1/2" long hose.I didn't pass the emission test 4-5 months ago.The lady I bought the car from was complaining from her mechanics-neighbours.
I still don't know what exactly was wrong with the car :hmm and hope that won't happen again.
Thanks everybody and :cheers

i have seen this before
you inadvertently repaired a corroded connection by disconnecting then reconnecting a connector

probably at the ECM , but who knows

the problem may return , or not , depending on things beyond your control

i use either stabilant22a or Wurth contact OL on suspected slightly dirty / corroded connections
to attempt to
prevent a re occurrence of the original poor connection

sometimes the female connectors in the ECM harness loose their ability to tightly grip the male connectors .....
which mimics the problem as well .

it took me ,with my tooling and experience about 3 hours to find one of those a few weeks ago on a astro van , an female connection at an injector driver pin at the new PCM installed by another shop , was a bit loose .

if the problem returns
you will need to isolate the actual pin that is causing the symptom

I agree MWebb,
probably cleaned a connector by disconnecting/reconnecting.
I vote for the relay though.
Time will tell.

Yesterday I drove the car to a store for 1 mile and back.It was ok.BUT early this morning when I was going to work- :banghead .-almost :die .Lost power, poping in the throat, but it didn't quit and I got work.Worked good before I turn it off. After work to home-no problems at all.I opened the hood with engine working and moved, disconnected, connected back some wires and saw a spark. Those 2 wires that come from the ign.module and go to the ign.coil.One of them had a hurt insulation and touched the engine block.Left the engine working for 1 1/2 hour, then drove it and looked fine. Will see tomorrow! :-/

you may have more than one problem
see any mouse droppings or nesting materials ?

this is a bad injector - but you can not tell form this waveform shown
this waveform under these conditions at this resolution appears as a

good injector waveform. but
it is not
