I wanted to build a free flowing intake for my car that got rid of the factory filter and went right to the throttle body. I couldn't find anything like i wanted as a model so i fabbed one up. First i took off the metal ring on the circular air filter which would be the base of my intake. I cut out some sheet metal and welded it up.![]() Then i needed to figure out how to mount it on the throttle body. So i came up with this. ![]() I then robbed an intake off of a junker cavalier that was sitting in my brothers yard. Cut it down to size and this is what i came up with. It is only primed because the cans of black paint i had were frozen and wouldnt spray. This is my Budget intake system. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Pretty clever and it's a great low budget mod ![]() As long as it's air tight, you should be set. |

Nice piece of work. Clever. Please post the painted version and any change in performance. Updates! FYI, in weld shop we had to cut and weld up a 4"x4"x2" open box then turn it upside down and stick it in water. No bubbles and you passed.

Cool, looks like a blow-through turbo at first glance. |

When i first turned the car on with this installed it wouldn't even run due to the new air fuel ratio. It seems to have more power on hard acceleration. It works more like my brothers 4 cyl. Next i want to make my own header for this beast. |

Did you weld in provisions for the sensors that were on the old TBI hat? I didn't notice any in the pictures. |

Definitely looks neat, looks like you also have an old school pcv filter riding right in front of it but a nice clean solution for sure

How heavy is it? I would think you could make something like that out of pvc pipe or something? Ive added a cool air intake to my friends jeep by using pvc pipe to extend the stock pipe. It worked great! |
