Can the motor be assembled completely and then installed, or do I have to put the block in first then the head? It would be nice to assemble the whole thing on the engine stand instead of under the hood...

I didn't have a stand when I rebuild my engine so I installed the block first so I didn't have to worry about it moving around when I torqued my head bolts and stuff. I get a horribly sore back when I work on a car but I don't remember it being any worse when I did it that way. Thanks enginedoctorgeo! Yes, I though it was too expensive as well. Especially when I sold a freshly rebuilt XFI engine a few months later for $200 less than what I paid to rebuild mine <G>. I chalk it up to actually paying for the "fun" of doing it. I had never rebuilt an engine before and I had always wanted to. Finally got my chance with "Sippy". I still haven't rebuilt a head though. I have the one off that engine and might do it for the heck of it sometime if I am feeling frisky. Not feeling too frisky right now and don't really want to spend the money... |

It can be done, I did it and made a thread on it too. Check out the link below if you'd like, it may help (note that I'm on a cell phone and due to the extemely large amount of pictures in my how to thread, I had to copy the second page adress instead. Click the link and go to the first page to see it from the beginning). http://geometroforum.com/topic/2539369/2/#new |
