well here is the latest in the continuing saga of my Geo repair. I got her all put together(very careful on the torque this time) started her up and she ran terrible high idle, rough run, blah blah blah. Jumped in and took her up the road anyway, she virtually stalled on acceleration and most alarming ran hot within 1/2 mile. :die . Came back to the shop rechecked all. everything looked good. It was stinkin cold and I had to go to work the next day so I just shut the hood and left it sitting there for three days while I was at work. Got back to her today and started her up and she ran PERFECT. Also did not run hot. (Insert twilight zone music here). I have been driving around the hood a little and so far so good. I am noticing a bit of fluctuation in the temp guage, it will run up to nearly hot and then come back down to normal not that nice steady center position. I think I am starting to see what might have happened to the head gasket. I theorize that the car ran hot I did not notice and the gasket blew as result. Is this possible? the head was flat. Block was flat so I don't know, but I'm gonna put in new Tstat and go burn up the roads, well maybe not burn em up but you know what I mean Thanx all later Ken

Changing the T stat sounds like a good idea. I drilled the 1/8 bleed hole in mine. Maybe check your heat sending unit? Just saying :banana :banana :banana Oh Yes Good Luck

The problem you are having is air trapped in the cooling system. You have to leave the car run with the rad cap off until the fan cycles at least once. This could take 30 minutes so be patient. While the cap is off, there will be coolant coming out as the air is purged, but let it go (use a catch pan or radiator fill funnel) and keep adding coolant when it purges. The car will burp out coolant several times before all the air is out.
