Here are some pics. of my current aero mods. When I first started making modifications, I searched as much as I could for examples, so hopefully this helps others out & gives more examples/ideas to try. Let me know if you guys want any closer shots or explanations. I drove 133 miles last night in 16 degrees & averaged 51.7 mpg. Coolant temp. varied from 170-190. I was pretty pleased with that.![]() Front Grill Block with coroplast. ![]() Nose belly tray. ![]() MPGuino...I still need to build an enclosure for it and re-run that wire. ![]() After market Tachometer & Temp Gauge. The stock temp gauge stopped working correctly & I wanted to be sure I wasn't running too hot, so I got one with actual numbers on it. ![]() Pizza pan wheel covers & rear wheel skirts. ![]() Passenger mirror delete. ![]() Without the wheel skirts. ![]() "Got 50 MPGs?" for all the haters behind me! ![]() Rear belly "tray"...not sure if it does much, but it's about the only option. I had a piece to the left as well, but it flipped out & never got around to replacing it. I need to secure it better next time. |

Interesting.....can you tell me more about your wheel skirts? Snow issues, etc. Thanxs. |

I like your wheel skirts in the back. Did you make those? I am running Moon hub caps from Mikes Hub Caps in So Cal. About $100. I really like how they cleaned up the look on my 94. Would be interested in buying a set of skirts for my 99, 3dr. |

I had a little snow issues, but nothing to really complain about. Nothing got stuck up inside the wheel wells, it was more on the outside that could simply be knocked off like any other car. I made the skirts from white coroplast as well that I spray painted black & I do have some extra. It took me a long time to get them right since they are curved a bit, I had to guess the length from my newspaper template, but now that I have a nice template I wouldn't mind tracing them & selling them to some members as long as the price made it worth my time. I actually might throw a set on ebay to see how much they would go for. How much would you be willing to spend Mr. Murf? |

I added some clear plastic head light covers to my Metro along with a partial Kammback you can see in my How To: Partial Kammback thread. I tried lexan earlier, but didn't have the patience to cut and bend it. I got a couple nice shirts for Christmas and each one came in a clear plastic box. ![]() I cut one side out and traced the shape of the head light enclosure. ![]() Then I wiped the surface with alcohol and placed 2 sided all weather sticky tape then layed my lens covers onto the tape for the finished product. ![]()

The covers look good, but will not increase aerodynamics. I know this from experience. |

those covers look cool, but I'm pretty sure they are not UV stable. Just expect them to yellow over time. You know, like the stock ones! |

If there's any aero benefit at all, it's prob. so minute that it won't be picked up between fillups or on my MPGuino. The UV protection crossed my mind as well... We'll see how the summer treats them I just installed an XFi camshaft this past weekend. My next big project will be the XFi transmission swap & clutch installation. I think I'm pretty much done aero modding it... I might add onto my Kammback later, but for now I'm pleased.

One morning we had a real fine dusting of snow. You could easily blow it off or wisk it off the car. I drove 15 miles at 50 MPH and the snow in the headlight buckets was still there. I blew on it and it flew away. |

It probably functions like a truck bed with the tailgate up does, creating a "bubble" that oncoming air will "flow" over.

True it provides no aerodynamic improvement, but, he won't have to drive around with a fine layer of snow in his headlight buckets either ! Me, I like the way the buckets look without the composite look effect, I will leave them as is even if it costs me 2 mpg ~! Sometimes just liking the way it looks counts more than any other benefit You did a nice job on those, I hope that all weather double sided tape doesn't give you headaches when trying to do something simple ( like changing out the headlight ) although, if I remember when I did mine arightly, I had to remove the bucket bezel anyway. You betcha THAT is one thing that will be modified on my car for SURE
