Ok everyone its me will again now some good and bad news. Good I got possesion of the metro and i managed to wd40 somethings and so far it seems like it needs some basic maitence nothing major :). The bad at Auto tech (the voc school I go to) I lost the key or someone took it f*ck around with me. I have now put a $10 reward on it. SOme idiots though have returned due to the snow. Sadly that was my only key. What do I do now. P.S I would like to avoid having to change all the locks etc. I heard from my shop teacher that if a search didnt get that key in a week try going to a chevy dealer with a vin and have them make you a new one. how much is this operation? any ideas? thx Will. |

this something i've done many times you can do the dealer thing cost around $30 ,just did a honda and that was their charge, you can do it cheaper by removing one of the door locks and taking it to a locksmith trunk or back hatch is good the best is the passenger door cost should be under 20 don't use the glove box lock as they don't always use all of the tumblers |

My advice? replacing them would probably be a.) cheaper and b.) give you the ability to use a lock/key design that doesn't have a tendancy to snap in half. I have no idea as to the cost of dealer cut keys though. |

There is apparently a locksmith in Kentucky that knows Geos. Check out Geo Ignition Switch Woes. |

Call the GM or Suzuki Dealer with your VIN# and they should be able to cut one for you. The ignition is not an easy part to replace. |

One quick comment. You said you put some WD40 on some things. It should be noted that the WD stands for Water Dispersant. A lot of beginner shade tree mechanics incorrectly believe that this is a lubricant. It could in fact cause damage to moving parts since it cleans lubricant off of them. Please get some silicone spray or other lubricant (depending on the application). |

Passenger side door lock has a secret code stamped into it that will allow a locksmith to cut you a new key. Saves one step and the dealer's crazy prices. The dealer puts your VIN# in and gets that same secret code. |
