So I've been replacing the head gasket in my garage slowly for the past two months..Got it together today and put antifreeze in. It started coming out of the water pump i think while i was filling it...wtf? ANy ideas what happened? Or know how much it might cost to just take it into a shop?

Are you sure it's coming from the water pump? A common leak is the long coolant tube that pops into the back of the pump. There is an O-ring on the end of it that can leak..........

You can use an O-ring from a standard universal O-ring kit or get it from a GM or Suzuki dealer. There are 2 small bolts holding the tube in. One is on the side of the trans case (easy to see and remove) and the other is hidden under the throttle body and is not so easy to get to.

Good luck!

No, I'm not sure it was coming from the water pump. We couldn't see for sure. Coming from that spot on the engine...In any case I just had it towed to a shop. I'm over fixing this little geo myself for right now. I got it for $100 from a friend who was gonna take her to the junkyard over a blown head gasket. This thing has been from canada to utah to ilinois and is in fabulous rust free condition....except it was leaking a quart of oil in about an hour. So even if I pay a shop a few hundred dollars I still got it for a steal.

I hope it is that hose you mentioned though!!! :-)

Well, for what you paid for it and for what that little car is saving you, then paying a mechanic is not a bad idea at all. Let us know and if your mechanic has any questions, I will give you my number so he can call me. Let him know about the coolant tube before he misdiagnoses the water pump.
