I need some help, I've got a 97 Geo Metro 4cyl auto and it dies when I lift my foot off the gas. It did have a "Serv. Eng. Soon" light that was for the O2 sensor after the cat. conv. I changed that and by the second day the SES light went off but, it still dies. I had Autozone check the code and they told me what it was but they also said it could be a fuel problem, with the code that was coming up. The O2 sensor was the most likely.

Doe anyone have any ideas? Thanks Paul :'(

Do you think your fuel filter needs changing?

Welcome to the forum, PaulH! :coffee

Johnny Mullet is the man, the test is the place to start, period.

Did they say what the code was? I use www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes to get a grasp on what's going on. I bought a code reader on eBay for $35, used it on the Wife's '96. If I had been inclined to take it someplace I would have known if they were pulling my leg or not. However, I cleared it, it came back, I cleared it, it came back, I cleared it, it came back :banghead It wasn't a false code. :smackface I replaced the Catalytic converter and the earth started revolving again. :D

It will be helpful to know how many miles are on the engine, what's been done mechanically to it, what type of driving you do and maybe if you mechanically inclined. gman has a good idea, my 1996 service manual (got one on eBay) says change the fuel filter every 30,000 miles.

If you care to post in the introductions we'd like to see car pics. ^o)
