Throttle Body Injection (TBI) - Does it use any type of lubricant somewhere inside?; Now it's surging, very high idle

I removed the Throttle Body Injection (TBI) off the car recently. I turned it over to check the bottom of it, next thing I noticed some kind of oily substance (NOT fuel), on top of the throttle plate, I don't know where it came from, but I believe there is some kind of valve, right under the coolant temperature sensor and coolant hose (TBI -->water intake pipe) meet see (this tread for pics... http://geometroforum.com/topic/2617654/1/ ).

I replaced the TBI gaskets and torqued them, but right after this the car started idling weird (it was idling high before this), but now the rpm's go up and down when Idling, but it drives fine otherwise. I have also noticed that when I disconnect the hose to the distributor vacuum advance, or the hoses behind the TBI where the MAP sensor connects, or other vacuum hoses, the surging stops.

Here's more info:

* I have checked many times and the hoses and the routing is correct

* I have used a MAP sensor and ICS (idle control solenoid), and a silencer from another metro and it does not help.

* I have replaced the TBI --> WATER INTAKE PIPE hose and also the INTAKE MANIFOLD --> TBI hose

* PCV valve replaced recently

* The Idle adjusting screw does not help

It's kind of puzzling that when I disconnect a vac hose it runs better.

To my knowledge, the liquid that showed up on the throttle plate is the only thing I noticed different. Is this lubricant supposed to go somewhere in the TBI and do I need to put some back in?

it's just extra chrome muffler bearing lubricant ,
do not concern yourself with it .
==========================================

surging ing
is caused by
DECEL FUEL CUTOFF when idle exceeds about 1200 rpm and the ECM thinks the throttle is closed
it thinks you are coasting down a hill in gear
so it shuts off the fuel , until idle speed is reached then
the PCM switches fuel back on
repeat repeat repeat , surge

so you know your closed throttle switch is working ....
you need to locate the vacuum leak OR
over tightened throttle cable
OR
possibly the cold / fast idle bi metalic thing in the throttle body is clogged and coolant can not flow to it to heat it up to let the system come down off of fast idle

It's coming from you valve cover, through your new, nicely working PCV valve :thumb

I finally located the vacuum leak!! :banana :banana This is what I did wrong: I scraped off the old gasket material from the base of the Intake manifold, BUT....... I NEVER DID THE SAME WITH THE BASE OF THE TBI, which had a big piece left on it :smackface , thus causing an uneven mating, leading to a vacuum leak.

This solved the surging problem, but what I'm happy about :) is also solving the High idle problem. I believe the ISC (Idle Speed Control solenoid) was bad, because now that I replaced it, the engine is running so smooth, and the rpm' s also now can be controlled with the adjusting screw. :cheers
