Hey everyone, didnt get any response as to why the 3 cyl is the most tuned geo and as to why most of the parts made for them are for that car but no big deal. Heres my plans. Ok after doing the basic maitence this car needs (done) and checking this thing over in voc school, I got $1200 for performance parts leaving $700 in the in case sh*t happens fund :P . So I also want to make it an absolute sleeper. No wheels, no muffler change etc. Heres my ideas so far. 3 tech cam (if they make one still trying to figure that out ps 3 tech guy hit me up dude we need to talk), + 10 cam gear, upgraded valves, valve springs, guides etc. (I think this will add up to about $700). The next batch would be to pipe expand the stock 1-1/4 in. ( I think) pipe after the cat to 1-3/4 in. then I would run a regular style exhaust (oem for a bigger car) on there. K and N filter, ported airbox, mini tach under dash. Any ideas plz hit me up!! I'll get my camera functional when i feel up to it ( as in use it lol). Will upload later. Ideas guys? plz and thx. -Will

The 3 banger is not as popular to mod as the DOHC 1.3L from the Swift.

I saw your original post but I have no opinion. If the question is really important then use the :bump and "bump" the topic. so It reappears in New Posts and gets new looks.

Click on: geometroforum.com/3Tech and under Head Packages is everything you need for the SOHC, 3 banger for $425+ you get that performance cam you definitely want. ^o) E-mail suprf1y at http://geometroforum.com/comm/?c=1&mid=454083

With what you see below in my signature, I went with $425 worth of SRD header, 2" to the Catco Cat. and stock pipe to the glasspack. Just enough back pressure? You won't want the glasspack. :D

Sir, yes sir!

He makes cams for the 16V SOHC, that's what you have (if it's the 98 in your profile). http://www.teamswift.net/3tech/

My plans are to get the performance cam, mild porting work on the head, 1.6L exhaust manifold, 2" exhaust with resonator (keep it sleeper-ish) and a few other things I can't think of right now. Looking to squeeze some power out of it while still getting decent mileage.

Sometime's 3Tech is away from his comp. But he will be around. Be patient. Everything I have orderd from him has been super. I can't wait till I can fire this engine up for the first time. Your project sounds cool. Keep posting

..."K and N filter, ported airbox,"...

DO NOT use K & N products
they are overpriced junk and do not filter as well as OEM air filters

the K & N advertising hype has been refuted as creative fabrications more times than i can remember and
still
people eat poop and want to buy it ? i do not get it .

do not use that junk , unless you want premature preventable engine failure

There are more parts for the 3 cylinder because there are ten times as many of them. Metros didn't even get the four cylinder until 95, and there are four different four cylinders, three cylinder stayed the same for 11 years.

You have a 16V SOHC, Mike at 3Tech can hook you up with a head and cam. Best thing you could do would be to ditch the automatic, you're loosing a ton of power and mileage to that slushbox.

ok then mwebb does anyone make intake upgrades for these things then or are you telling me that a hot cam head etc. package wont at ALL be affected by a stock intake system? do tell. well thx everyone else im now going to look up other intake methods. so much for keeping it stock looking under there

Sir, yes sir!

instead of looking at the filter as a problem, look at the intake tract itself. Replacing the restrictive "duct" as GM calls it with a smooth bend pipe. Also the TB is a restriction. I'll see if I can find the forum link that shows what swaps directly on and yields a larger TB bore. I think it was a GTi TB... but don't quote me on that.
