Any interest in a meet in the south? I am close to Charleston and wondering if anyone would want to take the trip here.

FWIW, our Miata club is hosting a regional event in May. There will be around 150 Miatas from all over the country meeting here. This was from 2 years ago:

Think the Miata club would mind us cashing the party with a bunch of metros and a hybrid?

Ive been meaning to head south as some Carolina is a company that sells 3 wheel EVS and offered me a test drive if I came down. http://www.evcarolina.com/

USS Yorktown (decommissioned or whatever you call it). It is a museum. I've lived here for 25 years but haven't been on it since I was a kid a few years before we moved here from WV.

The Yorktown. WOW. I have read about that one most of my life. That is an F4, on the deck. The one that looks like its bent. The other is an A4. Mr McCain was shot down in one of those. Thank you so much for posting that. Murf

Back a jillion years ago I used to work at the Navy yard on J48s. They were old even then but I like working on them. We did complete rebuilds on them I did it for about 2 years before I was caught in a Reduction in force Here is a pic of one from the Pensacola Navy Air museum. A cutaway but I bet I could still build one. LOL Posted Image :banana :banana :banana Never worked on them flat much most of the work was done with them vertical. One of the last steps was to bolt part of the hot section on. It has about 28 bolts and little special lock washers. If you dropped one it could/would go all the way into the compressor. If you couldnt find it you had to take the engine apart till you did. So when you went to put it on they only gave you the correct amount of bolts/washers. Every thing would get quiet while you and your helper climbed up to install them. I only saw them get dropped a couple of times. I never did. Knock on wood. LOL I almost forgot You had to safety wire every thing together. Groups of 2, 3, 4 what even the work order said. If you wire say 4 in a row it can be hard to get all of them pulling the right way. So I remember the inspector had a little set of chrome diagonal cutters and he would cut your wiring to pieces if he didnt think it looked right. He never said anything. Just snip, snip. What was bad all your buddys would be laughing their asses off at you. LOL

Summer would be a good time for me. As long as it's not planned around any NASCAR races there, we should be good.
