Festiva looks even smaller than a Metro, is it?

no, dimensionally it is shorter than a metro. but it is wider. and way way taller. if you make a trip to the junkyard go sit in one. you feel like your in a small minivan. lol i love the festiva but there are just things i don't like about it. the suspension setup is my #1 deal killer it has trailing arms in the front and the sway bar is what propels the car.. and its got a semi link dead axle in the back.

cool beans of a car, megatro...will see it at the meet, right? heehee...yr car reminds me of my car that i had oh some years ago but because i was naive and very very uneducated :lol in how and what to look for in a car back in the day...i didnt make a payment on it and before they could repo it i turned it back in to the liars of a dealership...
it had wayyyyy too many miles and supposedly it somehow passed smog...took it to have a tune up and the guy wouldnt do it because it was running on 2 cylinders and not the 3 it had and he mentioned that it wouldnt have passed smog because of it... :( so about couple weeks later i took back and told them what the mechanic had said and that i should have had someone look at it before buying...that was 15 yrs ago...that dealership isnt here anymore! ed that car but that was a hard lesson learned...

I figured it was a bit shorter length wise. Do the Festivas have a Ford or KIA motor in them?

they come with a mazda engine. the engine they come with stock is a b3 (1.3 I4), and being a mazda product a lot of parts interchange and can be upgraded pretty easily. i've owned a couple festiva's and i do like them but i just keep coming back to the metro's haha.

I am thinking of the Aspire that has the KIA engine.

the aspire is just a 2nd gen festiva. the kia you are thinking of is because the festiva/aspire was built for ford by kia using mazda parts..... in theory lol

the lights are ebay h4 conversion bulbs.. with some 6k hid's
you gotta get some for your car alpine! that'd be awesome! :thumb

Festivas and Aspires just as Mega points out were a collaboration between Ford, Mazda, and Kia. Mazda's drive train from the 323 (more or less) and Kia assembled, logo provided by Ford who also required them to last at least 6 years before rusting.

Like Metros, the Festivas and Aspires have non interference engines. Unlike Metros, all of them were 4 cylinder and pushed about 70+ hp. Like Metros they came in 5 speeds and autos, the autos are non lockup, and the engines are incredibly durable. They are a bit larger than Metros on the whole, the Aspires are for sure larger and they were the first of the micro economy cars to offer airbags (copied later on the Metros).

They get like mileage of around 40mpg (like meaning compared to 4 cyl. Metros) and are also incredibly easy to work on. There are a lot less of them around for purchase (around here anyways). Having now driven both, I would have settled for either an Aspire or a Metro, and was looking at both when I finally found my Metro. Both are worthwhile vehicles imho.
