I like your ideas Starscream, that's pretty much what MetroMPG did with his partial Kammback. The thought I recently had was to attatch several suction cups to the bottom of the Kammback & stick them to the window. I'd have to glue varying sized wedges onto the bottom first to compensate for the gap between the Kammback & window. Manny, another nice thing I already noticed is that when it rains the upper portion of the window stays dry & clear

Thanks! I'm working on it... I had my wife talked into go to Geopalooza, but now she's getting cold feet so we'll see. We may be moving this summer & we'd actually be closer to the site...even more reason to attend! |

if you want to design a template just go on to Paint on your comp and draw one up it allows you to bend the lines and type the lengths and dimensions. then you can save it as an image to your computer and upload for everyone to see. just a thought though. |

I've been gone all weekend with our basketball team, so haven't had a chance to mess with it. We made it to the Sweet 16! When I get back, I'll take a picture of the Kammback off with measurements & if I have time, I'll make a picture in Paint & upload that as well. |

Another program useful for modeling things (if your using windows, anyway) is -> Googles Sketchup <-. It is free for the downloading and easy to learn, and will give you your idea in 3 dimensions visually

Here are a couple shots of the Kammback off. It's pretty redneck, but this is how I left it for the weekend... On each end is an Xbox 360 to prop up each end. Then I stacked 2 tablet PCs on top of each other to get a nice bend. Then I took a hair blow dryer to make a permanent curve.![]() Here it is with measurements I did up real quick in Paint. I didn't re-secure it, but I did fit it on the back of my car & it fit a lot better. I didn't have to fight the coroplast from wanting to straighten out so I think if I wash the car and tape it down, it'll stay pretty well until I get some more time to "permanently" secure it.

Thanks for the how to mjspiess. This should be really helpful to a lot of people, I know I always wanted a kammback. It could be a good starting point for a full boattail like MetroMPG recently did. http://ecomodder.com/forum/showthread.php/project-geo-metro-boat-tail-prototype-15-mpg-10691.html#linkbacks Measurements of Boattail (see link below) http://ecomodder.com/forum/showthread.php/project-geo-metro-boat-tail-prototype-15-mpg-10691-45.html#post156960 |

Thanks JohnDN for that link...I was looking for those boat tail dimensions. I had spotted them earlier, but couldn't find that post or overlooked it. Those Fujitsu's are on my "To Do" list. I'm hoping to get about $150 a piece from them once I install Windows 2000 on them. My friend works at a clinic & they were just going to throw them out! He got 5 for free including a ton of accessories

Screw 2k they run XP just fine! I will try to hunt down the drivers I have stashed away for them for you. The hardest is the touch screen once you get that going your golden. 3400's and 3500's my favorite units! your never going to see $150 for them maybe a few years ago you would but not today. Not you can get the ST's for $150 (I am saving up for one) they have ghz proc's in them. BTW don't have a floppy? well GET ONE their cheap. get a USB enclosure for the hard disc. partition the drive and put the windows install files on the second partition. I will have to look up the "file" you need to run have not done that in a long long time. Easiest way got a lappy handy? pop the hard disc inside and start windows installation right after the first "reboot" kill the power put the drive in the tablet and boot it up. Should work a treat since its not copying from the i386 temp folder it made and if you DO need the disc files you already partition and put the i386 folder on the secondary partition which you can not point to. once you have "one" done you can do as many as you want. use Drive Image to image the drive. put the drive image boot disc (I can describe how to make a bootable cd drive image disc if you need me to) restore the image DO NOT let it reboot. pop the drive in the new tablet boot up. Nice an easy :-) Edited by nerys, Mar 20 2010, 08:24 PM.

Thanks nerys, I've done one so far already...just haven't gotten to the others yet. It took me a while to figure it all outout, but once I did it was smooth sailing. I was going to attempt XP, but thought I read somewhere they didn't run well. I guess it wouldn't hurt to try & if you say they run XP fine, I def. will. Even if I can't get $150 out of them, I'll still make a profit since they were free for me

I added an extension to my Kammback & heated it up for a more permanent bend. From middle to end it is now 24.5"...prob. too long. I haven't had a chance to put it back on & look through the rear view mirror yet. ![]() If I go with this set up, there are a few options to go with... Just keep it that way & have a gap on each side. Add a triangular piece on each side so there is no gap between back window/hatch frame & Kammback like so... ![]() Cut the extension in half, begin the outer edge at the back window/hatch frame so there is no gap & tapor each piece toward the middle so I'll lose very littly vision, but have the Kammback flush with the entire back window/hatch frame. ![]() Or cut the extension in half, begin the outer edge at the back window/hatch fram so there is no gap & put a rectangular piece in the middle to keep the length at 24.5" or whatever I want it to be. ![]() What do you guys think? |

Stop being a sissy and just make it out of tablet PCs and Xbox 360s. Imagine what that would do for your street cred. |
