Because it is the only safe place to stand. Gas pedal just needs to be shimmed ya right why is the cruise light coming on?

Does anyone else see the irony in Toyota's logo "Moving Forward"?

Should be "Moving Forward...WHEN YOU LEAST EXPECT IT!!!!!!"

disclaimer: I am not trying to dis on Toyota, yes they have a problem but its not like they were the ONLY cars to have this problem.

I don't believe the story of the guy whose Prius went out of control on the highway. I think he's making the whole thing up to get back at the service center that turned him away. I think we'll see more about that come out in due time.

I'm no fan of the Prius (unless I could get one for $500!). I've been looking at the Honda Insight. There are a few in my area. Anybody have any experience of feedback on the technology of those? I'm talking the ones from 2000 or so.

never have seen the sense in all the technology and engineering in the electronic throttle by wire. what is wrong with the old tried and true cable that connects the pedal to the thorttle butterfly? worked for the past 80 years, why not now? maybe that's the suggestion. recall millions of veh's to put throttle cables on.

They would have to re-engineer the throttle plate, cruise control, ECU to name a few. Throttle cables fray, snap and rust. If they fray the throttle can be stuck open. Every manufacturer now a days uses drive by wire but of the millions of vehicles sold only a handful have had this problem. Also there were a ton of Audis in the late 80's that had this problem as well. They had cable throttles.

Are you referring to the unintended acceleration Audis?

Yeah
IIRC, most of those were actually American drivers showing how they couldn't drive.
