On my 95 1.0 metro the coolant gage in the dash wont even move when I drive it. I just got this car, it was sitting for about a year and a half. The motor runs great, but I am not liking the possibility of an overheated engine. If I had to guess, I would say I may need to replace the stepper motor in the inst. cluster. Any ideas or experience out there? Thanks for the help. |

If this is a metro your coolant temp sending unit is going to be in the intake manifold on the passenger side right behind the alternator. One wire. I would suspect that before the gauge. Pull the connector off the sending unit and take a little jumper wire and short that connector wire to ground somewhere and your gauge should go all the way over to hot with the switch on. If gauge moves to hot. Replace the sending unit. There is a coolant temp sensor by the distributor but it controls your fan not your temp guage. Later model metros the coolant sensor did both, fan control and temp gauge but it should not be that way on your 95 model. You have a temp sending unit on the left side of engine and a temp sensor on the right side. There were so many changes from year to year concerning many things on these metros so what might apply to one year doesnt apply to the other. Hope we helped you. Jittney I dont understand why you have a 94 metro with that setup. Strange. If your engine looks like her picture on the drivers side then follow her instructions if not then you can look for that sending unit behind the alternator.

You AC turns off. What does that mean exactly? Fan stops blowing. Fan blows but hot air. Welcome to the forum. |
