Thanks guys. Nothing is better than taking an underachiever car like a Metro, and have a successful weekend racing it.

I want to thank everyone for their generous advice and interest. We have another race in October, and plan to keep this forum updated along the way.

That is totally awesome. I've already sent the whole team the website link. Hopefully your forum traffic will jump a little in the next few days. Thanks again, you guys rock.

Did you read my post on page 6? I think it was informative. :)

Yep.. I read about the 4 cyl. It's a good idea. I'm a little worried about trying to squeeze an engine swap in only 6 weeks, and still have a VERY reliable race car (given our mechanical skills, or lack thereof).

We may continue to campaign this as a LeMons car next year, if so... then all kinds of fun things could happen. :)

Ah I did not know you had a 6 week window. If you want reliable power....cam, header, CAI, TBI bridge delete, porting?...

But even then you're at like a base 4 banger amount of power.

Like the Coche said:

If you want easy power then try to swap in a 4banger from the same year Metro. IIRC, the wiring "should" be the same, you'd just need the Engine, engine harness, and ECU.

However, if you want to stay with the 3banger then i'd recommend porting the HELL out of the head. Make a long-tube header, get one of Mike's timing gears, grab an underdrive pulley, delete the TBI bridge, and make some sort of "Ram Air" setup {I'm thinking literally have a scoop coming out of the hood directly over the throttle body}. If you have the money sitting around then grab one of Mike's cams also.

Awesome job so far!!!

Did you see our ram air setup? We used a gallon of milk carton cut in half and taped into the passenger side head light space. :) I'm sure it gave us 0.01HP. :drivin I'll talk to the team about an engine swap.

I offered him parts for free, and a cam for $100 and he wasn't interested.

Yes you did, and at the time we became apprehensive to even touch the engine (just wanted reliability).

We have gotten over that, and have discussed your generous offer.

Initially people mentioned usually with cam and throttle body swap it would up the HP to about 70, is that correct?

I'll be the first to admit that I've not opened ANY engine myself, and am somewhat intimidated by engine work. We do have a full time mechanic on our team, but he hasn't worked on
this type of engine before.

Thanks to 3tech for being so kind in the past.

I swapped a cam in an hour (swapped it back out another hour later) and I just barely consider myself a mechanic.

I can donate a 30" yellow windshield sticker and 2 14" yellow side window stickers if you want. You will have them by next event if you PM me your address.
