Boy oh boy, got some work done today. (relatively speaking) Wake up at 1 P.M. cause your lady friend kept you up till 4 the night before? Done. Rear interior? Gone. CEL's (all 3 of them)? Gone. I'm still running rich, at least it smells like I am. I still need to get the exhaust hung and muffled. Go back to said lady friends house after working on your car, she compliments you on how your hands smell good. (Gojo) ![]() I took a fair amount of change/rocks/broken glass out from underneath the rear seat today and drove it around. A few comments about that. It ROCKS with a stripped interior. I took a turn today at 45 mph that usually causes me to squeal tires and it stuck like a mad cat on carpet. It's also REALLY noisy. I heard the fuel pump...the whole time. I really want to relocate the battery now for a better weight distribution, it has to be something terrible right now. After I got the vacuum hoses replaced my idle seemed to steady, but it may be a tad higher than before. (no tach). I'm curious about that one thing that makes the engine run richer (open loop or something?) How can I diagnose that? I got 49mpg last tank, with about a 1/3 of it pulse and gliding. And the rest was 60-65 mph. I'm uploading some random pics of the car. Some are of the oil leak, which i've replaced a few seals and it has slowed it down. Some are of the empty back seat. I'm going to break out the heat gun and get all that sound deadlining up and put some bedliner or something down. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Nice amount of work, since you have the back stripped down and ready for action, may as well hit some of that rust too

Hmm, I typed another paragraph about my plans for the rust...I guess it got deleted. Anywho, i'm busy on the ratio thread so I don't feel like retyping.

An older Electrolux. I haven't seen one of those since I left home 35 years ago. It looks exactly like my moms. |

I hit all the rust with a wire wheel today. I made a few patterns for the "bed" that i'm gonna make. I got the rest of the interior out but i'm leaving the dash and everything in. I can honestly say that if I had some sway bars and a tad wider tire I would have the most fun car ever. All that weight gone is noticeable. |

Just noticed something...![]() My "silencer" is broken. I'm testing the IAC right now. Can I run without a silencer? http://img517.imageshack.us/i/hoesy.jpg http://img693.imageshack.us/i/hoes1.jpg/ I checked my TB hoses, they weren't plugged. I gotta figure out what is causing this rich A/F ratio. Edited by Coche Blanco, Jul 7 2010, 02:11 PM.

Nvrmind, started to reply to an older post for some dumb reason lolNice progress!!! It seems like a really clean car in general though. ![]() My car leaked oil right there where the head meets the block too, have no idea why though unless its coming out of an oil passage and through the headgasket? EDIT: and I'm not 100% sure about the silencer, I don't think its essential for it to function. Edited by chads4dr, Jul 7 2010, 09:33 PM.

The cam seal as well as the valve cover gasket can make that look like a head gasket leak. Make sure when you put on a new head gasket that you put a little bead of rtv or 1104 on the four corners of the valve cover gasket. |

I'll replace all the seals before I head to Palooza. I'm trying to buy a XFi tranny/cam before I go. Nothing better than testing fuel economy on a 700 mile trip. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I'm a little disappointed with my jigsaw skills, I haven't used one in like 2 years. |

So, what goes in the hole? I like the new floor back there, if I didn't need my Metro to be a kid hauler some times, I'd probably do that too. |

One more extension into the passenger seat area and you could probably stick a cot mattress in there

I'm 5'7" and believe it or not I fit (diagonally) in the back of the "truck". (that's the Geo's new name) MC, that was the original plan. My sister wants to ride to Geopalooza, so I needed the extra seat. I don't need a car hauler...i've been close a few times...*if you catch my drift* Edited by Coche Blanco, Jul 8 2010, 11:51 PM.

I'm having some trouble with the IAC valve. A functional valve should not let me blow through the bottom hole, if there is not voltage run to it, correct? Can I just plug it up?
