How would I test the bottom end for compression without the head on it? Diesel in cylinders see how fast it drains?

Yeah or kerosene.... but even if it doesn't leak don't skimp out on the bottom end....several of us including one of my friends not here on the forum have skimped out and did the top end only.... it bit them in the ass. The increased compression blows out the worn out rings. Just throw some rings on minimum, maybe do a quick hone, but with chrome rings honing could be skipped if need be.

How worn does that engine look to you? I'm taking the LSi engine apart completely...for practice.

I haven't decided if I want to swap the XFi transmission before I go to Palooza. I'm still figuring that one out. I would swap the XFi cam, but the ride will be all interstate so there's no reason for that.

We've established my IAC valve does not work. I plug it and my idle drops...to what I think is reasonable. That makes sense, right? I'm burning a little more oil than I thought. My PVC is clogged, again, so i'm making a catch...erm..drop tube. (tube to the ground) And i'll carry a jug of 10w30 to keep it topped off on the way down there.

After the XFi cam install...I sprung an oil leak. Who ever put the cam cover on used a lot of RTV type stuff on it...along with the gasket. ugh

Crank seal and cam seal both replaced, thanks to Johnny. Old cam was put back in due to me not liking a Geo with 0 balls. Looks like I have all the leaks solved, i'm going to clean it real good and see if I get new leaks. If I don't have them solved before palooza i'm just going to bring a bunch of extra oil.

That's not even enough time for the lifters to pump back up. Did you advance the ignition timing as recommended?

Looking to get an alignment before GeoPalooza

Would you get a lifetime alignment for 169 or a 5 year for 189? Or would you just get a one time alignment?
